More than HALF of first-year Division I tennis players are now foreign recruits. This is no longer isolated to one or two sports. It is happening across NCAA recruiting. Congress must fight for language in the SCORE Act that protects roster spots and scholarship opportunities for American student-athletes.

As a strong supporter of school choice, I believe parents — not zip codes, teacher unions, or government — must have the freedom to choose the educational environment that best serves their children. Charter schools expand opportunity, create pathways for student success, and give families options where traditional systems fail to deliver results; just look at Baltimore City.   National Charter Schools Week is an opportunity to recognize that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, and we must continue fighting to give families greater educational choice.

This week, I visited the Water Witch Fire Company and discussed the critical need to replace a 24-year-old fire engine that has become costly to maintain. I secured funding for this fire engine replacement project in the FY2027 Agriculture Appropriations bill that advanced out of committee last week and will keep working to get it across the finish line. Our firefighters must have reliable equipment when responding to emergencies in Maryland’s First District.
