The people whose money depended on urgent care and ER traffic spent millions in my congressional races trying to beat the ever living crap out of me. It was about how many bodies walk through the door sick.

The dirty secret is demographics. Fewer 18-year-olds than 20 years ago and double the number 65 and up. In 6.5 years, the trust funds crack. This ends one of two ways. We get a lot more productive and crash healthcare costs, or the math buries us.

One of the highlights of my week was giving a tour to a group of fourth graders visiting from Dallas! It was a blast to show them around the Capitol, from checking out the artwork in the tunnels from the annual art competition, walking around Statuary Hall and the Rotunda, peeking into the Rayburn Room, and even running into a few special guests, like @RepDavid.

My little Matthew is 3. This country needs 104% of his lifetime earnings just to cover promises Washington already made. In less than 6.5 years, the Social Security trust fund is empty. A grandmother is stuffing money into a Bitcoin machine. The owner knows it is fraud and tries to stop her. She lies to him anyway because the stranger on the phone already has her believing the lie. That is what AI changes. It can pull details off social media and put a familiar voice on the line. That is how the fraud starts to sound real. Then the transfer goes through before the family even knows there is a problem. My own father has been scammed multiple times. We need to stop treating this like a simple education problem and start stopping the transfer before the savings are gone.

California has collapsed their own crude oil production 75% since 1980. Their regulations have made refining so expensive that in the last 3 years alone two major refineries have shut down or converted. Arizona has no oil reserves and no crude oil refineries. We depend on California for 33% of our gas. Their policy decisions land directly on Arizona families at the pump. I wrote to President Trump this week demanding he invoke the Defense Production Act before it gets worse. Without federal action continued refinery closures will tighten supply and drive up costs. Those with the lowest incomes get hit hardest.
