President Trump’s tariffs have been a disaster for American families. While I’m thankful that the Supreme Court has overturned many of these illegal tariffs, this ruling cannot undo the damage they’ve already caused.
Joint Economic Committee Democrats@JECDems

Despite today’s Supreme Court ruling, Americans have already paid $1,700 each in tariff costs since Trump took office. jec.senate.gov/public/_cache/…

President Trump has imposed reckless tariffs, driven up health care costs, and created economic uncertainty that all raise prices for families. And now Americans are paying over $1,600 more than before he came into office. Read our full report here: jec.senate.gov/public/_cache/…

BESSENT: Affordability is worse in blue states SORKIN: The Joint Economic Committee says the highest inflation over the past 4 years has been in red states, especially Florida BESSENT: I'm talking about current SORKIN: Not over the past 4 years? BESSENT: Today SORKIN: Ok. I would say the 4 years would be a reasonable trend line to look at

Trump said he'd “bring the cost of everything way down" on day one. Well, it's been nearly a year—and Illinois families are spending $766 more on basic necessities due to inflation. This might be pennies to his billionaire buddies. But it's a gut punch for the middle class.

🚨The new @JECDems report shows the average California family paid $1,112 more for the same products due to inflation in Trump’s first 8 months. Trump’s disastrous policies and trade war are hurting Americans’ pocketbooks in every single state.

This week, President Trump and his cabinet are claiming that costs are down. The reality is that as Trump has pushed ahead with reckless tariffs, families across the country are being forced to spend more.

New @JECDems report shows that this year Americans paid $100 more on electricity on average. While families grapple with higher costs, Donald Trump is giving away hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to bolster pricey and deadly fossil fuels. jec.senate.gov/public/_cache/…

With all data in, BLS now reports the U.S. economy *lost* 13,000 jobs in the month of June as Trump’s tariffs took effect. U.S. job growth since Trump announced tariffs has been extremely weak— May: 19K June: -13K July: 79K August: 22K The monthly average in 2024 was 186,000.
Justin Wolfers@JustinWolfers

The job market continues to slow, and it's worrying. We're (just) keeping our head above water (for now). Jobs grew only +22k. July revised up +6k to +79k. June was revised down by -27k to -13k. Average jobs growth over the three months = +29k. Unemployment up a tick to 4.3%.

NH has long fought the devastating impacts of the fentanyl crisis, including through medication-assisted treatment, the gold standard for treating opioid addiction. We cannot allow the Trump Administration to gut Medicaid and take away access to MAT. unionleader.com/news/politics/…
