On this National Medal of Honor Day, I’m proud to be part of a group working to bring a bust of former Arkansas Lieutenant Governor Maurice “Footsie” Britt to the Arkansas State Capitol.
Before Footsie Britt was a success in sports, business, and public service, he was a war hero. For his extraordinary valor on the battlefields of World War II, he became the first U.S. Army soldier of the war to receive all of the Army's top combat decorations, including the Medal of Honor.
I look forward to seeing the finished bronze bust unveiled at the Arkansas State Capitol later this year.
