Once again, I voted to reopen the Department of Homeland Security. The national disgrace that was the Schumer shutdown of DHS is coming to an end. It’s shameful that Democrats kept DHS operating at limited capacity when terror threats against the U.S. are rising. And it is shameful that TSA, Secret Service, and so many other patriotic Americans working throughout DHS had paychecks disrupted for months because of Chuck Schumer’s Shutdown.

Tonight, I voted to reauthorize section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA)—a surveillance authority used to collect foreign intelligence on non-U.S. persons overseas. When properly used, section 702 has helped to identify and disrupt foreign terrorist plots against the U.S., including the 2009 NYC subway plot and the 2022 operation that killed Ayman al-Zawahiri, the successor to Osama Bin Laden, the chief ideologue and strategist of Al Queda’s operations after Bin Laden was killed. This reauthorization preserves the 56 substantive reforms I voted in the Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act (RISAA), after the FBI under disgraced former Director James Comey used the FISA program to target the MAGA movement. FISA must always remain a national security tool and never a political weapon. This bill ensures this program is strong while Americans’ civil liberties are protected.

We've got to fund Homeland Security immediately.   Democrats don't want to help! They have full on Trump Derangement Syndrome and their irresponsibility is now on full display for the whole country.

Governor Beshear’s petty and false attacks against the @universityofky this week are disgraceful.
