“This is about ACCOUNTABILITY.”
We just secured a major victory for animals, taxpayers, and national security.
The House finally voted to cut USDA funding for animal labs in China and Russia yesterday.
It comes after we exposed USDA funding for bird flu gain-of-function animal tests “tied to entities associated with the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”
We’ve all been forced to endure the worst-case scenario of “risky, unaccountable” taxpayer-funded animal testing in foreign labs after Covid-19 likely leaked from the Wuhan lab.
Now, six years later, we helped to get this bipartisan Amendment, sponsored by Rep. Paul Gosar, into the 2026 Farm Bill.
Rep. Gosar: “This bipartisan, common sense Amendment [restricts] USDA funding for animal research conducted in adversarial nations like China and Russia.”
“In recent years, Americans have seen the consequences of risky unaccountable research conducted overseas.”
“Despite these lessons, federal dollars continue to flow to foreign labs.”
“My Amendment ensures that does not happen without serious consequences or justification.”
Thank you, Reps. Gosar, Nancy Mace, Dina Titus, and Scott Perry for co-sponsoring this groundbreaking Amendment!
