Farmers bear the brunt of severe weather and unpredictable markets. The Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 protects what our farmers have built by expanding access to crop insurance to provide economic certainty to farmers, even in times of disruption.

I am working to provide farmers, veterinarians, and other members of the ag industry in Indiana with the tools they need to defend our farms from agroterrorism. Food security is national security, so we must guard our farmers’ livelihoods. Hoosier farmers feed and fuel our nation. I remain committed to passing policies that help Hoosier farmers thrive, no matter what threats come our way.

How do we protect farms? There are a few initiatives I’m working on in Congress. I’m proud to cosponsor of the H.R. 7653 The Biodefense Diplomacy Enhancement Act, which creates a federal framework to detect and coordinate responses to animal and plant diseases, both naturally occurring and from deliberate bio-attacks. I support the USDA’s Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service. They’re our first responders for disease outbreaks that could threaten our food supply chains.

Agricultural terrorism, known as “Agroterrorism,” is real and a growing concern for Hoosiers and all Americans. We can’t overlook attacks on our farms and food supply. Learn more about this rising threat below.

Last night, USGLC hosted @TheGlobalFund Executive Director @PeterASands, Members of Congress @RepJimBaird and @RepMcCormick and our coalition members for a timely discussion on new frontiers in global health and the innovative, cost-effective partnerships that are helping save millions of lives, advance American interests, and keep health threats from reaching our own shores.

I recently introduced the Tech Diplomacy Training Act to ensure all Foreign Service officers receive training on STEM concepts prior to being stationed abroad. Training in STEM is paramount in our increasingly digital world, especially as adversaries like China pursue advances in AI, surveillance technology, and next-generation communications.
