The Cross Bronx Expressway has polluted the Bronx for generations and treated our community as expendable. That ends with us.

Trump sued the government he controls, settled with himself, and billed taxpayers nearly $1.8 billion for it. That money funds a slush fund with no independent oversight, potentially paying out to Jan. 6 insurrectionists and his political allies. It was signed by his own former defense lawyer. Then, buried in a hyperlink the next day, without telling Congress, they added one more thing: the IRS is permanently barred from auditing Trump, his family, and his businesses. A president granted himself lifetime immunity from tax enforcement. This from someone who bragged on a debate stage that not paying federal income taxes "makes me smart." If you tried this, you'd be in prison. Trump gets $1.8 billion and permanent immunity. A complete perversion of justice.

Barney Frank was a giant. As the first openly gay member of Congress to come out on his own terms, he paved the road for LGBTQ+ members like me and my @EqualityCaucus colleagues. He leaves behind an extraordinary legislative legacy. As chairman of @USHouseFSC, he led the fight for the Dodd-Frank Act, reshaping American finance and protecting millions of consumers. We lost a true trailblazer today. Rest in peace, Congressman.

Yesterday, three people were murdered at a mosque in San Diego on one of the holiest days in Islam. This is a vile and despicable act of hate, and I refuse to accept a country where worshippers cannot gather in peace without fearing for their lives. My heart is with the victims, their families, and every Muslim American who woke up afraid today.

The path to 2029 service for Penn Station Access is achievable but only with the complete cooperation of Amtrak. The time has come for Amtrak to rise to the occasion and ensure that NY and CT taxpayers are not left holding the bill for delays. thecity.nyc/2026/05/15/met…

Jeury Concepcion is an American citizen. ICE tackled him, bloodied him, and left him needing stitches on his way to get a haircut in the Bronx. Tom Homan said more ICE agents in New York would make us safer. Tell that to Jeury. ny1.com/nyc/all-boroug…

Abe Foxman led the ADL for nearly 30 years and never stopped fighting antisemitism and hate. May his memory be a blessing and his legacy endure.

George Gresham spent 18 years leading 1199SEIU and a lifetime fighting for the healthcare workers who keep this city alive. That legacy will live on for generations. Rest in power, George.
Governor Kathy Hochul@GovKathyHochul

From his start as a hospital worker to leading @1199SEIU, George Gresham was a legendary labor leader who never stopped fighting for working people, communities of color, and the dignity every New Yorker deserves. His voice helped shape New York’s labor movement and strengthen the rights of health care workers across our state. My prayers are with his family, loved ones, and the entire 1199SEIU family. May he rest in peace.

As the elected officials representing this community, we are outraged by the recent actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who brutally attacked an innocent civilian in Norwood. It is unacceptable that any member of our community under this federal administration could be targeted, profiled, and detained without consequences.

The federal government should not force banks to enforce immigration law. That is not their job and would sow chaos in our financial system. Our bill prohibits the Trump Administration from attempting such overreach.
Punchbowl News@PunchbowlNews

Rep. Ritchie Torres and Sen. Angela Alsobrooks are preparing to drop legislation that prohibits banks from “collecting, maintaining, and disclosing” information tied to Americans’ citizenship and immigration status. @BrendanPedersen has the details: punchbowl.news/article/financ…

Prediction markets cannot be a backdoor for campaign insiders to profit off nonpublic polling, strategy, and fundraising data. I will be introducing legislation to ban insider trading on political event contracts and require platforms to detect suspicious campaign-affiliated activity.

SCOOP: Campaign staff are gaming prediction markets using internal data to make timely bets on their candidates — winning “thousands.” One staffer told me it would have been “foolish” not to bet. Another staffer called it the “Wild West” npr.org/2026/05/07/nx-…

New federal rules are cutting SNAP benefits for New Yorkers who don't meet new work requirements. If you're between 18-64, without children under 14, and able to work, you may need to report 80 hours a month of work, training, or volunteering to keep your benefits. Act now: nyc.gov/OhSNAP

Whether you're studying online, finding a new job, or keeping in touch, internet is a basic need. But right now, too many New Yorkers don't have internet connectivity. I am proud to announce alongside @NYCHousing @RepRitchie @NYPL that we are expanding New York City’s Neighborhood Internet Program, which provides free, high-speed broadband to New Yorkers living in affordable housing. Now, an additional 2,000 NYC households will gain access to high-speed broadband across the Bronx.

In the Bronx, the digital divide holds people back every day. I’m proud to partner with @NYCMayor in securing a $2M expansion of @NYCHousing and @NYPL’s Neighborhood Internet program, which provides free high-speed internet services to low-income families in the Bronx. bit.ly/4tQxC5j
