@SaffronOlive Prismari is easily good enough to see competitive play. Each mode is super useful for control decks and is better than a 1 mana spell, which is the usual going rate for each mode on a charm.

I’ve seen some hype around this card getting leaked. If this is real, wouldn’t this be a slap in the face to the reserve list??? I’ve been saying for years they could just print Snow-Covers Duels! Let’s just get rid of the Reserve List if we are printing stuff like this

@Dafore3 Unfortunately I think riddler is just better, and the text box lines up well against this. It’s still super powerful though. I could see it showing up sometimes, maybe as a control finisher.

Let's say I wanted to put together a bracket of iconic Modern decks from the pre-Modern Horizons era. What's one deck that you think absolutely must be included?

A lot to unpack here. The @jstewartIndy post yesterday about for English Learners got me thinking about enrollment numbers. There are school districts seeing much lower enrollment numbers compared to 2017 Hamilton Southeastern is one of them. Pike and Wayne Township Schools are also seeing a drop off. Also, here's a WILD stat for ELL Center Grove went from 95 English Learners to 536 in 2026. The average home price in Center Grove is $439,950. Zionsville Schools went from 49 English Learners to 224 The average home price in Zionsville is $671,066 Look up your school district and see the MASSIVE change. eddata.doe.in.gov/.../GetObjectB…... See less

@SecWar Y’all are dummies. Chinese drones will be fully autonomous. Can you imagine the disadvantage in speed and lethality of having a human have to okay every kill? Not to mention this will require a network connection which can be jammed etc

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth
This week, Anthropic delivered a master class in arrogance and betrayal as well as a textbook case of how not to do business with the United States Government or the Pentagon. Our position has never wavered and will never waver: the Department of War must have full, unrestricted access to Anthropic’s models for every LAWFUL purpose in defense of the Republic. Instead, @AnthropicAI and its CEO @DarioAmodei, have chosen duplicity. Cloaked in the sanctimonious rhetoric of “effective altruism,” they have attempted to strong-arm the United States military into submission - a cowardly act of corporate virtue-signaling that places Silicon Valley ideology above American lives. The Terms of Service of Anthropic’s defective altruism will never outweigh the safety, the readiness, or the lives of American troops on the battlefield. Their true objective is unmistakable: to seize veto power over the operational decisions of the United States military. That is unacceptable. As President Trump stated on Truth Social, the Commander-in-Chief and the American people alone will determine the destiny of our armed forces, not unelected tech executives. Anthropic’s stance is fundamentally incompatible with American principles. Their relationship with the United States Armed Forces and the Federal Government has therefore been permanently altered. In conjunction with the President's directive for the Federal Government to cease all use of Anthropic's technology, I am directing the Department of War to designate Anthropic a Supply-Chain Risk to National Security. Effective immediately, no contractor, supplier, or partner that does business with the United States military may conduct any commercial activity with Anthropic. Anthropic will continue to provide the Department of War its services for a period of no more than six months to allow for a seamless transition to a better and more patriotic service. America’s warfighters will never be held hostage by the ideological whims of Big Tech. This decision is final.

Gay person: I'm gay Autistic person: I'm autistic Gay, autistic person: so it's called Pauper, it's a 60 card format where you can only play commons. People sometimes call it Legacy-lite due to its play patterns and power level and most decks are under $50

@SaffronOlive The whole idea of common and uncommon legends is already oxymoronic, so whatever. It already doesn’t mean anything to be legendary.

Curious what you all think about this? I'm very much team Mark/Aaron. The current legend rule is really bad with 2026 era design, especially with UB sets, but in general. If you *have* to make common versions of name characters, they don't need to be legendary. I also think the arguments from R&D is pretty lackluster. 1.) Overall it doesn't feel like legends are more powerful than non-legends (and legends just shouldn't exist at common period, outside of very rare cases like the at the time unique legend theme of original Kamigawa). 2.) The system working very well for in-universe sets doesn't mean much when more than half of sets are Universes Beyond. 3.) The legend rule has changed several times over the years, mostly for the better, and people figured it out. I don't think the cost is that high. Give Magic players some credit R&D... I think the costs to basically every non-Commander format of making so many legends is higher than trying to solve the problem.

@wzrdnx Definitely sad. I have a few complete sets (invasion fo example) and older cards just have more soul. There was a love and craftsmanship to the game that is long gone.

I think the emotion that best captures how I, and many others, feel about Universes Beyond is grief. it's the loss of something meaningful for what feels like a senseless reason. that's why the "argue with facts and logic" line frustrates me so much, because grief is irrational

@SaffronOlive Real talk what even IS an artifact at this point? What differentiates it from anything else? As you said they act like spells, have color, and every other card type can do what they do.

Been thinking about how some artifacts and enchantments are becoming more and more like spells. Almost feels like what happened in the 90's when creatures sucked so they started putting spell effects on stuff like Man-O'-War and Nekrataal and they became must stronger.

@archiecoder Standard decks have always been expensive (looking at you, Jace TMS) but as you pointed out the pace of change is really making things pricey. You may buy into a deck that is completely irrelevant a few months later. I bought into Simic Terror last year only for it to be banned.
