@spandy_endlove @SaffronOlive Might slot right into otters or spellementals
English

@SaffronOlive Prismari is easily good enough to see competitive play. Each mode is super useful for control decks and is better than a 1 mana spell, which is the usual going rate for each mode on a charm.
English

@NamelessMTG It’s definitely an extremely provocative move by WoTC
English

@Dafore3 Unfortunately I think riddler is just better, and the text box lines up well against this. It’s still super powerful though. I could see it showing up sometimes, maybe as a control finisher.

@Indy_reporter_ @jstewartIndy Noticed this in another suburb. $500k homes full of Nigerian people who barely speak English. How?
English

A lot to unpack here.
The @jstewartIndy post yesterday about for English Learners got me thinking about enrollment numbers.
There are school districts seeing much lower enrollment numbers compared to 2017
Hamilton Southeastern is one of them.
Pike and Wayne Township Schools are also seeing a drop off.
Also, here's a WILD stat for ELL
Center Grove went from 95 English Learners to 536 in 2026.
The average home price in Center Grove is $439,950.
Zionsville Schools went from 49 English Learners to 224
The average home price in Zionsville is $671,066
Look up your school district and see the MASSIVE change.

“Reading the cards explains the card”

Carolyn Wang 凯伦@caro_irl
in magic: the gathering we have this saying "reading the card explains the card" when the cards are actually abjectly unreadable

@SecWar Y’all are dummies. Chinese drones will be fully autonomous. Can you imagine the disadvantage in speed and lethality of having a human have to okay every kill? Not to mention this will require a network connection which can be jammed etc

This week, Anthropic delivered a master class in arrogance and betrayal as well as a textbook case of how not to do business with the United States Government or the Pentagon.
Our position has never wavered and will never waver: the Department of War must have full, unrestricted access to Anthropic’s models for every LAWFUL purpose in defense of the Republic.
Instead, @AnthropicAI and its CEO @DarioAmodei, have chosen duplicity. Cloaked in the sanctimonious rhetoric of “effective altruism,” they have attempted to strong-arm the United States military into submission - a cowardly act of corporate virtue-signaling that places Silicon Valley ideology above American lives.
The Terms of Service of Anthropic’s defective altruism will never outweigh the safety, the readiness, or the lives of American troops on the battlefield.
Their true objective is unmistakable: to seize veto power over the operational decisions of the United States military. That is unacceptable.
As President Trump stated on Truth Social, the Commander-in-Chief and the American people alone will determine the destiny of our armed forces, not unelected tech executives.
Anthropic’s stance is fundamentally incompatible with American principles. Their relationship with the United States Armed Forces and the Federal Government has therefore been permanently altered.
In conjunction with the President's directive for the Federal Government to cease all use of Anthropic's technology, I am directing the Department of War to designate Anthropic a Supply-Chain Risk to National Security. Effective immediately, no contractor, supplier, or partner that does business with the United States military may conduct any commercial activity with Anthropic. Anthropic will continue to provide the Department of War its services for a period of no more than six months to allow for a seamless transition to a better and more patriotic service.
America’s warfighters will never be held hostage by the ideological whims of Big Tech. This decision is final.

@SaffronOlive The whole idea of common and uncommon legends is already oxymoronic, so whatever. It already doesn’t mean anything to be legendary.
English

Curious what you all think about this? I'm very much team Mark/Aaron. The current legend rule is really bad with 2026 era design, especially with UB sets, but in general. If you *have* to make common versions of name characters, they don't need to be legendary.
I also think the arguments from R&D is pretty lackluster.
1.) Overall it doesn't feel like legends are more powerful than non-legends (and legends just shouldn't exist at common period, outside of very rare cases like the at the time unique legend theme of original Kamigawa).
2.) The system working very well for in-universe sets doesn't mean much when more than half of sets are Universes Beyond.
3.) The legend rule has changed several times over the years, mostly for the better, and people figured it out. I don't think the cost is that high. Give Magic players some credit R&D...
I think the costs to basically every non-Commander format of making so many legends is higher than trying to solve the problem.

English

@wzrdnx Definitely sad. I have a few complete sets (invasion fo example) and older cards just have more soul. There was a love and craftsmanship to the game that is long gone.
English

@SaffronOlive Real talk what even IS an artifact at this point? What differentiates it from anything else? As you said they act like spells, have color, and every other card type can do what they do.
English

@repthielian5 Found out you can't write notes about the deck before playing
English

@MTG_Arena Dunno how anyone tolerates listening to that commentator. Nails on a chalk board
English

@archiecoder Standard decks have always been expensive (looking at you, Jace TMS) but as you pointed out the pace of change is really making things pricey. You may buy into a deck that is completely irrelevant a few months later. I bought into Simic Terror last year only for it to be banned.
English

@lambdanthony @victryena Apparently they are from the LOOOOOORE!!!. But the fact that no one knows who the F the yellow turtle is shows this probably isn’t th best property to adapt in the first place
English

@victryena It's been way too long since I've consumed any TMNT-related media so I was confused why nobody's been mentioning the very conspicuous 5th ninja turtle

English

im not being hyperbolic, the art in this tmnt set has a lot of strange errors, lighting, textures, and compositions that give off ai, even if its just bad art. for example, the missing left prong on raphael's sai and the erroneous dice configuration (2 cant be next to 5)

Zach@ZachTheRide3D
You can’t just throw “it feels like AI” at everything you don’t like, human beings are fully capable of making dogshit art
