“At approximately 7:30 this morning, we began to receive 911 calls reporting a fire at 60-20 68 Road. Our units were on scene in under four minutes. They were confronted with an extremely heavy fire condition. We had heavy fire showing on all three floors in this building. We immediately started a very aggressive attack, stretching multiple hand lines to cut this fire off and prevent it from going to the exposures. We eventually went to a third alarm assignment. The fire is under control. We have only one minor injury to a firefighter, no injuries to any civilians. Everyone's been accounted for. We have the Fire Marshals on the scene conducting an investigation. The Red Cross is here talking to the occupants and taking care of them, and Department of Buildings is on the way to evaluate the structure,” said Assistant Chief Joseph Ferrante.
