Automattic did so much good for the open source community for ~20 years. And yet, claiming it is defending open source ethics (of giving back) it committed blatant theft: stealing 13 years’ work and userbase of another team. Absolutely unethical. I no longer trust Automattic.

So this is the future of WordPress. Automattic - the entity controlling Wordpress .org and the WP trademark - can take over *any* plugin that it wants, when they want, and how they want. Automattic is burning the principles of open source for their own profit. A sad, new era.

@charles__seo S'affranchir du repo serait, amha, la plus bénéfique des choses. Il faut que le repo soit décentralisé. Les extensions "pro" fonctionnent déjà sur des systèmes de MAJ indépendants, et ça fonctionne très bien. Sur tout le reste, je rejoins ton avis !

Looks like I’m officially part of the blocked team. Just a recap of some of what I tried to contribute over the years. I contributed five plugins to #WordPress, including two that were voted the #1 and #3 plugins by users in 2009. The mobile plugin I helped make was the default mobile version on WP.org for a while. I coded the first few iterations of profiles.wordpress.org. I’ve also contributed to core. I organized three WordCamps, two in Vancouver and one in Whistler. I sponsored many others through my business, the majority of which I never even attended. There’s an old saying that when your friends suddenly become your enemies, you should seriously ask yourself why. I still believe in WordPress, I just find the recent actions to be reprehensible and not in the spirit of open source or what I thought was the spirit WordPress.

Donc, WordPress vient de VOLER le plugin "Advanced Custom Fields" à son créateur, qui se trouve être WP Engine. Mullenweg est en roue libre, ça ne peut que très mal finir. À ce stade, il devient malhonnête de le défendre : ses motivations n'excusent plus ses actions.
