@teslavangelist Electricians can be ridiculous, I had Tesla wall charger that burned up, Tesla sent me a new one, I called an certified installer to swab them, and they told me $2400 and insisted the have the redo all the already present wiring, called another one and they did it for a 100

A typical data center uses about the same amount of water as a golf course, and the same amount of electricity as a steel plant. Yet for some people, they have become The Worst Thing In The World. Where does this motivation come from?
CBS Evening News with Tony Dokoupil@CBSEveningNews

Days after voting in favor of a new data center in Indianapolis, Councilman Ron Gibson says his home was struck by 13 gunshots while he and his family were asleep. He says a handwritten note reading “No data centers” was found under the doormat.

Teenagers are sharing photos of their AP U.S. Government textbooks, and the sheer amount of indoctrination is wildly disturbing. Apparently, Barack Obama is ideologically a right wing authoritarian. Hillary Clinton and George W Bush are entirely indistinguishable politically. Donald Trump is of course virtually the same as Hitler. @tedcruz is apparently more radically authoritarian than Fidel Castro AND Joseph Stalin..??!!?? @Linda_McMahon — can we expedite some major changes to American public education?

This family just got an IKEA kitchen delivered to their new home. It’s 210 packages, and many people say the instructions are almost nonexistent, it’s just diagrams. He’s going to have to unbox every part and arrange it in a way that can be identified so that will help with the frustration, many people who bought this quit out of frustration and tried to return it. Whenever people order kitchen sets like this, should it at least come with better instructions or at least a video, have you ever tried to put something together and the instructions weren’t clear and you ended up messing it up?

@gotrice2024 Literally super easy to do each item separately, it is basically building a bunch of different size boxes over and over again using the same exact steps. This is rage bait at its finest

@AndrewYang In 30 years, access to screens will be considered a human right. The online world has so much more to offer than the real one. Kids aren’t addicted they are adapting to a new level of human existence and rightfully get upset when forced to be bored.

@notcomplex_ That is because the real too minds in Korea all get poached to the US or Europe, but mostly and by far the US. So they are winning Nobels, just in the name of America

In Korea, test scores determine whether you go to the top colleges. Also in Korea, doctor is the highest paying and most prestigious stable job. So the vast majority of an entire country's best minds (over 75%) become doctors. So far Korea has won zero Nobel Prizes.

@AndrewYang All forms of massively automated products should be taxed at a hire rate than regular work. Someone making millions for just writing one song is also stupid. Income tax concept was imposed for those having passive income not on wages

@AlexEpstein Your math is way off dude, storage is not that expensive. This may be a limited issue in Alaska or even Canada, but you can easily have area with plenty of sunlight buffer to areas that aren’t.

If you treat intermittent solar and wind as if they were reliable generators, they can appear cheaper than natural gas. If you recognize that intermittent solar and wind are fuel savers for reliable generators, not themselves reliable generators, it becomes clear that trying to power a modern society with them is prohibitively expensive. It would require so much expensive storage and so much overbuilding that the cost would be on the order of 10 to 20x higher than natural gas!

Elon claims that energy abundance can be achieved with only solar plus battery storage. This is just not true, not today and not for the forseeable future. Even just supplying global electricity demand (around 20% of energy) with solar and storage would cost more than world GDP, because the amount of storage required to compensate for solar's intermittency is gargantuan. And some totally critical non-electricity energy has no near-term electric replacements (e.g., aviation, ocean shipping, industrial heat for cement and steelmaking, and more).
Tesla Owners Silicon Valley@teslaownersSV

Elon Musk: The vast majority of intelligent people still miss this — sustainable abundance for humanity is completely achievable on Earth. “There is a straightforward roadmap to a fully sustainable energy future for our planet. It doesn’t mean wrecking natural habitats. It doesn’t mean embracing austerity, shutting off the lights, or freezing in the dark. In fact, we could sustainably support a civilization far larger than today’s — well beyond 8 billion people. I’m continually surprised that so few recognize this obvious path. Most of the sharpest minds I talk to still don’t see it. They assume a sustainable energy future either doesn’t exist, can’t handle our current population, or demands drastic sacrifices. None of that is accurate.”

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.

I’m genuinely curious. If AI and robotics eliminate most human labor and scarcity… what does daily life actually look like? What do people do with their time? What gives life meaning? How do you imagine a post-labor world?

@mantheisthis @Clarsonimus I agree roof top solar make sense, but the US agricultural lands has been dewindling because farming is not worth it. Also we have 60 millions acres of biofuel corn alone, we only need 20 million acre of solar panels to power the entire US, with ALL EV and all AI we dream of

#ClimateCrisis Fun Facts: The maximum power density of a solar farm is 50 watts per square meter. Natural gas plants have a power density of 2,000 watts per square meter. Nuclear plants have a power density of 6,000 watts per square meter.

@mantheisthis @Clarsonimus An Acre of biofuel corn return an average of $900/year to the farmer with subsidies, it would return $3000 just as a lease to solar panel company. Much more if they own the project. And they don’t get exposure to carcinogenic round up and no humidity from corn sweat.
