On the celebration of the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, Pope Leo XIV has appointed on Wednesday a priest from Bohol province as the new bishop of the Diocese of Tagbilaran. In a video posted by the Diocese of Tagbilaran, Bishop-elect Gerardo Fortich Saco, Jr. is seen emotional with his appointment. "With a bouquet in his hands and tears in his eyes, Bishop-elect Gerardo F. Saco Jr. kneels before the Blessed Virgin Mary - entrusting to her, his 'yes,' his fears, and the mission now placed upon his shoulders," the Diocese said in its post. Msgr. Saco, currently the diocesan administrator, succeeds Archbishop Alberto "Abet" Uy, who had to leave his post after he was appointed Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cebu.
