@NoiceGuy_ Why would people want to play on a seasonal wipe character vs their main character when the prestige system is a thing? Also assuming they split the queues again, how is this healthy for the game?
English

Please explain how “getting good” prevents me getting one shot in the head from a thermal sniper looking at me through smoke a mile away. Ironic how you say “get good” when low TTK ALWAYS favors low skilled players.
Players who can’t aim get hella kills in a low TTK sandbox because they camp and only need to land a couple shots, esp w/aim assist. They handless trash cans get zero kills in a high TTK environment because better players get a reset off against them and/or just 180 beam them down.
You’re arguing for protecting low skilled players and losing your gear to campers.
English

@MarathonGameHQ Indifferent to the change but bungie should watch out splitting the queues up esp when it comes to queue time and long term health. Personally duo queued most of the test and 2v3ing is not hard at all because of how fast TTK is.
English

@MarathonDevTeam @MarathonTheGame Hoping containers/cases will be included on launch to help consolidate items in stash.
Also adding things such as keychains or med slots etc to normal inventory to help relieve what is being thrown into backpack going into raids is a must. 50% of bag being used before raid alr

@Septic_Sauce In the closed playtest last fall it definitely felt like there were more squads per map. Before it wouldn’t be uncommon to pvp 3-4 squads a game it felt like, not sure if anyone else can vouch if that’s true. Hopefully they adjust spawns this weekend or before launch
English

Right so after 5 hour of streaming Marathon....its disappointing ngl..
Very little exciting stuff happens in the game. After 5 hours of gameplay I can count probably around 5 pvp encounters maybe? And only a couple that are worthy of note? I was begging for PvP encounters in this.
Why is the PvP so sparse in the game??
The game isn't awful and I find myself wanting to try more of it but early impressions aren't great...

@AirwingMarine yea I don't understand anyone saying marathon needs to kill arc for it to succeed. In my mind if it can take over the arcadey middle ground where ABI/DF exists it'll do fine. Especially since those games are just soulless clones of tarkov
English

If Marathon steps into the arcade style PvP slot I think it potentially can, extraction shooter fans are going to have 3 amazing titles to scratch any itch imaginable.
A sad mistake I think many make, is they see these games are replacing one another. ARC killing Tarkov, Marathon killing arc, on and on.
In reality, these three games will create an ecosystem that fills different desires had by gamers. Some gamers will only touch 1. Some of us will enjoy playing all 3.
Tarkov has and I think always will be the foundation of extraction shooters, but it is hardcore, unforgiving, and not friendly to casual audiences. It's soul ils in PvP, but it has built an extremely loyal PvE fan base as well.
ARC Raiders is hyper casual friendly, simple, and incredibly fun. It's obvious they found the magic sauce. The players numbers reflect that (despite the issues they are facing). BUT arc is not a PvP centric game. It has it, but PvP is only part of it, and 'not the focus". That's not me saying it either, that's the lead dev of the game...'
So where does Marathon fit? Somewhere in between, closer to ARC, but with a focus on PvP. Like Tarkov, the PvE elements are fillers between the PvP fights. The bots keep areas interesting, and provide information for other players to decide if they want to PvP or not.
Marathon leaning into competitive PvP will pull people from ARC that are left wanting by ARCs limited systems, 3rd person perspective, and growing care bare atmosphere.
Of course this is all assuming Marathon isn't a turd, which I don't think it will be, but you never know anymore.
Either way, it's going to be an exciting few weeks.

@OnFireAnders Deadlock movement is more practical in that it is tech that you can use every game and not just something to look flashy. So while the movement is hard, there’s a valid reason to learn it. The movement is also not too hard to learn but not too easy that there is 0 skill gap
English

For people who have played deadlock or follow the game, I am curious what your opinion is on the movement of the game. My initial impression when playing it a bit more in the last few weeks was "this is fun, feels very moba, I buy some items and spam some skills and win!"
Then I started to get into some annoying situations where I'd be escaping someone and just kind of stumble into barriers or fail to jump and I'd be stuck getting hammered..
Then I saw a few people move differently from what I did and decided to watch some high level matches, and I realized I was playing a totally different game to these people.
For me that kind of high level movement is sick as fuck.. My first feeling is, I want to learn how to do that.. But some people I know also seem to think that the movement tech, because its so advanced, will become a huge obstacle to people picking up the game simply because if you run into a movement player with better skills than yours, you're going to lose like 99% of the time. I feel like its something to aspire to if you're a new player, but I can see the argument that if it feels forever out of reach, maybe that just turns to frustration..
Anyway like I said curious what the opinions are out there

@ddkesports Agree and and craziest thing to see so far is the natural growth the last 1.5 years. No marketing at all from valve yet and the player count has just been slowly rising through the steam charts
English

Apparently a hot take, but I actually find Highguard pretty fun. Guns feel great, movement is pretty nice, team fighting is fun.
I don't really get why people hate on games so hard when they're constantly begging for new things to play. If you're curious, download it for yourself and give it a shot.
However, the optimization really hurts it. Mouse input feels BAD. Would love to see that get fixed + some better control options for the game to have a chance.
