@unormal I had a student freak out at a failing grade because "I'm 19, I'll be too old to start a career".

Pardon the rare political post: While I certainly value age and experience, Goddamnit I’m sick of having to choose the least bad of a gripe of septuagenarian and octogenarian candidates. (And yes, that means your team too.) The bench of smart, capable Americans in their thirties, fourties, and fifties is broad and deep. Thank you for your service, elders, but it’s time to step aside and let the next generation lead.
We now return to regularly scheduled programming...

@SleepyTeaGames It's not posted anywhere except the vault, but I can certainly send it to you, though I'm not entirely sure how useful it will be without the audio. If you still want them, I can send them tomorrow. :)

@BillHuntBits Yes, 100%! I don't care about how an algorithm strings together a bunch of weighted tokens. I care about humans creating art about the human experience. It is fundamentally a human thing.

Oh, sure. Because that’s what will get people back into theaters? I don’t mind AI as a creative capability multiplayer for artists, but I have absolutely zero interest in seeing films made by droids for robots. 1/2

@_michaeljared Most designers I know use it all the time. I built an entire mathematical simulation of the system used to decide what Sims to spawn for which events on The Sims 4 entirely in Excel. We played with and tuned this simulation, then implemented it in the game.

Do other game designers ever use Excel? I know it's boring but it works for me. Using it to design a chunking system for a sci-fi-builder-looter game (yes, you read that right)

@_michaeljared PS: sorry for the delay in my response! Been super busy lately and have mostly stayed off of social media.

@rezibot I just listened to your recent podcast on the Game Developer Podcast - it was awesome and inspiring!! I'm also an EE, turned gamedev, now turned eng/comp. sci teacher. When you were talking about Godot and engine modules/extensions, you were bang on. I thought (1/4)

@_michaeljared That's awesome! I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Godot has some real possibilities, and the broken trust from unity gives them the prime opportunity to shine. I haven't messed with Godot for several years, but I did check out their booth at GDC. I need to give them another chance.

@brianfoster That's great! If you shoot me an email, I'll send you the slides.
