Just on a practical point, in the current climate: what’s to stop anyone from claiming to be feds and pulling up in an unmarked car and grabbing/kidnapping a random person and driving off? And onlookers assuming it to be ‘feds’. Genuine question.

When I was in college I helped a friend out with my car but had a poor attitude about it. I realized later that I’d screwed up - either do the favor with a smile or decline. That has stuck with me ever since. Sorry Ahwat.
