People criticize js for being obscure. I think it makes up for this by being simple at its core. Sure, you get some surprising behavior, but you can fairly often understand why that happens from first principles. Other langs generally require a lot more specifics to do the same.

I know we're all really excited about AI right now, but have you ever tried regex? Shit's like magic.

'"Make the code as flexible as possible" up front is the opposite of the #Agile approach.' (Jason Yip). Future-proofing is waste. You'll never need most of that "flexibility." Instead, make the code easy to refactor by making it as simple as possible.

Ultraprocessed food has been a large driver of obesity and health problems. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We can change it if we want to. “Processed” food can play a key role in feeding the world sustainably. My new article in @WIRED: wired.com/story/processe…

@jburnmurdoch The Linnahall (former Soviet concert hall) is best visited (or trespassed on) at dusk. The Kumu Art Gallery has a great Soviet realist section. The Soviet statue graveyard beside the Maarjamäe Palace is a brisk walk out along the Baltic. The bar atop Hotel Viru is interesting.

Twitter, I come in search of Baltic recommendations. Heading to Helsinki tomorrow, and then Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius next week. Where should we eat/drink and what else is not to be missed?

One of the easiest ways to limit climate change is to keep existing nuclear plants online. Next is to install as much renewables and nuclear as possible. Switching from fossil fuels is not just good for climate, but also for shorter-term human health. ourworldindata.org/safest-sources…
