Gratitude is the word of the day. I arrived at Elmwood at 8 am yesterday and left when the sun was setting. In between there was 36 holes of golf with friends, new and old. Lots of laughs, a few swear words, and some friendly competition. Grateful for perfect weather. Grateful for a beautiful golf course. Grateful for an awesome head pro, super, assistant pro, GM, head chef, staff and fellow members who all contributed to make the 2nd Annual Elmwood X Invitational a hit. And, lastly, grateful for all the people who traveled from near and far to play and share camaraderie that only golf can provide. Until next year!

A vacation timeshare…but for a private golf club? Could this work? Would you join something like this? Old Charlie is a new Florida golf club with an intriguing idea. Private golf. But instead of a few hundred members ponying up 6 figures, thousands of members buy the rights to their annual golf dates. Imagine having your once a year buddies trip guaranteed and at a reasonable price. Just $150 a day per guy. With only 72 players per day, it should be a true private experience. There is nothing else like it. I think it’s brilliant. An amazing opportunity to bring the private golf experience to regular people. Rooting big for this to succeed!

If I were to organize a day for a bunch of Golf Xers to come play Elmwood (Marshalltown, IA) would you be interested? Thinking 18 or 27 holes. Stroke play for the first 18 then maybe an emergency 9 scramble. It'd be a great chance to play a true hidden gem and meet fellow Golf Xers.
