It was a pleasure to work with Meri Kennedy and an honor to cover her induction into the Cranston Hall of Fame back in 2019. I know that recognition meant a lot to her. My deepest condolences to Steve, Meri’s loved ones, and the Herald/Beacon family.

I had to call an ambulance yesterday for a loved one (she’s home and everything is fine, thankfully, after a long day at the ER). The compassion and professionalism of the @CranstonFire personnel who responded was really amazing, and we can’t possibly thank them enough.

After 71 years, U.S. Army First Lt. Anthony R. Mazzulla has returned home to Rhode Island. #MIA since Dec. 2, 1950, after battle near the Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War, the #JohnstonRI native will finally be laid to rest in his family plot in Cranston on Saturday.

Also tonight, the council voted 7-2 to make Robert Ferri its new vice president (Brady had held that role, too). The four Democrats joined Republicans Paplauskas, Ferri and Campopiano in the majority. Nicole Renzulli and Matthew Reilly supported Renzulli for the VP spot.

Richard Campopiano has been appointed as the new #Cranston City Council member from Ward 4, succeeding Ed Brady. The vote was 8-0. He’s been sworn in and taken his seat for the council’s regular monthly meeting.
