First I ever read of the Mars ships was in Jess Smith's book, Way of the Wanderers. "The Cruelty" loom large in Gypsy Traveller memoirs

@Historic_Ally Aye, ww know because a lot of Gypsy Traveller children were stoken ftom perfectly kind, loving families and put on the Mars Training Ship . I notice NO MENTION of those poor CHILDREN. OMMITTED from Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry - omitted from this. DENIED an APOLOGY for 14 YRS.

It's been a good week for Gypsy/Traveller visibility in museums in Scotland. @CPKMuseums new Perth Traveller voices can be heard in a display on pearl fishing created by Travellers, while @HighlandFolk Museum, John and Eddie Macdonald put up the museum's new bow tent.

The new tent at the Highland Folk Museum is part of a long tradition, begun in the 1940s. There have also been tents at the museum built by Duncan Williamson and by Essie Stewart. See Essie building her tent here in a wonderful film by @shonamain grthm.scot/our-events/202…

200,000+ Roma & Sinti were murdered or died as a result of starvation/disease during Nazi period. On PM of 2/3 August 1944, Auschwitz-Birkenau's 'Gypsy Family Camp' was liquidated. 4,200-4,300 Roma/Sinti were murdered. This #RomaGenocideRemembranceDay, we remember them. RT 1/5
