I’ll add that that standard barbell bench press is an amazing tool to get athletes to a “strength” threshold, before it becomes beneficial to switch the focus to other areas an athlete might see further gains in throwing; elasticity, relaxation, speed/twitch, etc.
Gerry DeFilippo@Challenger_ST

🤔 Pitchers: don’t bench press? I’d imagine if Aroldis Chapman benches & still throws 100+ mph later in his career that it might be able to be done & be helpful In fact, here’s a great video from my friend @doublexcanflex on pitchers & bench press: youtu.be/xVUPe_UuCW4

Only siths and twitter strength coaches work in absolutes. Lets normalize developing performance models with experience based heuristics. The best in the business can scale and adapt their model to each individual not fit each individual into their model.

I’m watching the 22 Warriors vs Boston in the Finals… I can’t help but notice our second three-peat team would’ve beaten these Warriors by a dub and these Celtics by 40 if they’re going to play these brands of basketball. And that’s why it’s dumb to compare Era’s

I’m watching the 98 Bulls vs Utah in the Finals… I can’t help but notice our 2017 team would’ve beaten these Bulls by a dub and these Jazz by 40 if they’re going to play these brands of basketball. And that’s why it’s dumb to compare Era’s

@T_Burm He described them as “worst locations imaginable” because they were all breaking balls up in the zone… which traditional old-head “pitching” knowledge would have you think are automatically destroyed by hitters.

Lower half visual. Rotational velocities mapped to each segment with peaks indicated by green. You can see the sequencing as it flows through the movement: Lead Leg External Rotation > Back Leg Internal Rotation > Pelvis > Torso > Elbow extension > Internal rotation

I used to drink tons of Diet Coke but it’s been one month since I’ve had a drop. I want to share some of the changes I’ve observed in myself over that time: - My health is unchanged - I’m less happy - My one source of joy is gone Thanks for encouraging me on this journey!

#Vols coach Tony Vitello: "I spent many days asking, ‘When is my reward coming' as a player, because I felt like I invested like these two kids next to me, and it never did, because I’m not as skilled as them. But I think where it happened was when I got invited to Knoxville."

Announcers were shocked that Connor is a true FR and not a P5 bounce back Was only mid-upper 80s in HS with just D3 offers Now he’s mid-upper 90s - hit multiple 98s this week in Grand Junction Some are born with it, others scratch and claw their way there Bet on those people

If one of the most competitive people in the sport yanks themself the second they feel something wrong, you’re probably not the tough guy for pitching through your arm pain.

Max Scherzer explains what he left in the 6th inning: "Just felt a zing in my left side and just knew I was done" On what he thinks the injury could be: "I don't think this is a major strain... hopefully I got out of there quick enough to prevent a major injury here."
