Sorry for the late response: 1. the first and ultimate/unfortunate issue is that the beyond most probable likelihood is that Surrey's going to have three returners (Tayo, Kareem, Drew, maybe RJ). Can't build around that. 2. Surrey, with the 3-guards, were 8-4 when all healthy. They were a strong team. Surrey is the team with the lowest budget - if they're at all capable of competing around the top end (that that record when fully fit implies) - that is a huge kudos to the team and beyond expectations (Sheffield and Manchester have very high budgets comparatively). Lions have an enforced playing budget of at least 1.5 million Euro - the fact Surrey beat them at all is beyond incredible. To compete for a title, you need to be disruptors (like Cheshire) and lean further into separating through your game model (like Cheshire's emphasis on 3's and rim, transition play, TO% and OREB% generation). Surrey's plus is boards [and how much I rate Lloyd and the staff's coaching] but need to separate more. 3. Surrey were quite mediocre defensively owing to the size of their 3-guards. It's also a limit of budget, but I'd try to get comparable, pinpointed skillsets (i.e. Kino's off-ball shotmaking & secondary handler combo - where Kino's probably giving up the most size) in guys w/ more positional size like how Cheshire have recruited larger w/ more defensive versatility (while having the O skill to play Cheshire ball). Owen Koonce was a decent idea earlier for their 3 w/ his frame/strength at the 3 spot coupled w/ his shotmaking and some P&R scoring, but you need more athleticism and downhill ability in this league to win (you need someone other than Polite to generate advantages on his drives and w/ the ability to score @ the rim off of advantage situations). 4. Bench production. Hopefully further along the Surrey project, where I'm gunning for them to get in greater talents and earlier with more time to develop them, they'll have kids ready to produce earlier. The loss of Kareem was big, but I think Surrey really need a higher volume scoring combo-guard creator option off-the-bench to buoy units w/ younger talent (like how Cheshire have Pat, how Manchester have JJ). 5. Secondary playmaking - we saw without Polite, their two other guards couldn't offset the gap. Lilly is an incredible shotmaker, but I always loved him more off-ball rather than taking huge ball handling responsibilities (offense got very stagnant). At the top you're talking margins. I'd like one of their secondary handler profiles to have more passing ability. 6. It's an exceptionally difficult needle to thread, but if you can find a profile with near to a similar level of offensive rebounding w/ more threat from deep than Isiah Small you're cooking with gas. They do exist, but it needs a good scouting eye.

@Prophesy_Scout Yeah. It’s also a real selling point for us - play well in the SLB and your next move is going to be a good one

Makai and Trey Pulliam's in the LKL. Dame Adelekun has been beyond good in Romania (16/8/2 on 66FG%). I can go on... If you want a player to translate up to a higher level, you shop at the SLB, plain and simple.

"Why do I rate the SLB so highly?" Because our league's alumni (not even nearly the most well decorated from last year) go out and do this in higher leagues after.

There must be some nervous Hampshire fans out there. Avoided Div 2 by a whisker in 2025, they've lost two of their first three. And today, they're being bullied by Glamorgan. Long season ahead?
