Life can be heavy at times. Today is the Jewish day of atonement called Yom Kippur. It’s the holiest day of the year for us Jews. After synagogue this morning, Renee, my son Davis, and I went to visit with my mother who is a resident in an Alzheimer’s facility. While she recognizes Renee and me, she did not know who my son Davis was. Thought he was a friend of mine. It’s always sad. But I still enjoy seeing her. Truthfully, the illness is worse for loved ones than the one who suffers from it. Seems like a crappy way to live. EB

Thank you all. Although I'm OK now, everything happening in our cities, communities, and country is troubling. People seem to be cruel, violent, and hateful. The lack of empathy for those we know and humanity pushes us further from our potential to be good, do good and love. The loss of a parent changes you at anytime, and the younger you are the longer it stays with you. And the cruelty of their death leaves a residue.
