Crimson Desert sure is gorgeous, this town feels alive and ridiculously detailed. Getting used to the controls, the choice of having GTA/RDR controls for the movement but Souls/AC combat controls is a weird one. Enjoying the game so far but the story has not hooked me at all

@SynthPotato @wesleytypes totk, both, and elden ring absolutely have stories. Elden ring has one of the deepest most vast stories of any game they just won't present the narrative in a conventional matter. Saying those games have no story is so absurdly wrong objectively

@johniibo I feel that narrative and how the narrative is presented are two different things. TOTK has maybe my favorite story in the series but it's presentation is easily my least favorite. It's always hard to tell a cohesive narrative with such an open sandbox though

@KioreKiwi @disrupthehuman lmfao fair enough. I don't necessarily disagree with you, I would just say a lot of character action games, DMC included, have pretty passive enemies. Certainly not to this degree, but it allows for more player expression with combos and such when the enemies aren't super aggro

@TigoODonnell @disrupthehuman a hallmark of the genre is that the fun factor or "style" is based on how the player plays. You can blast through most of them with button mashing but that makes the combat much less fun. The only games I wouldn't say apply are ninja gaiden.

@ricebotguy @disrupthehuman This is only true for like recent releases. Ninja Gaiden 1-3, much of the Devil May Cry games, MGR, Vanquish, Sekiro, old God of War, etc, have actually engaging enemy design especially on harder difficulties

@compusemble I mean, then they failed? The original scene is set during evening, with pretty clear shadows stretching from the buildings. The new scene is just overcast, so explain to me how it maintained the artistic vision.
