When Copernicus proposed heliocentrism in 1543, it was actually less accurate than Ptolemy's geocentric model - a system refined over 1,400 years with epicycles precisely tuned to match observed planetary positions. It took another 70 years before Kepler, working from Tycho Brahe's unprecedentedly precise observations, replaced Copernicus’s circles with ellipses - finally making heliocentrism empirically superior. Terence Tao's point is that science needs a high temperature setting. If we only fund and follow what's most state of the art today, we kill the ideas that might need decades of work to surpass some overall plateau.

@brucetista Love this, been thinking both similar ideas — how to go beyond call and response —> feeling like someone is actually working or collaborating alongside with you

Been exploring what ambient AI could feel like in consumer tools, something you don't have to actively prompt or manage. Ex - Notes that respond to your writing in real time, adding context and connections without breaking flow.

The new Qwen 3.5 by @Alibaba_Qwen running on-device on iPhone 17 Pro. Qwen 3.5 beats models 4 times its size, has strong visual understanding, and can toggle reasoning on or off. The 2B 6-bit model here is running with MLX optimized for Apple Silicon.

Was great chatting with folks as part of @MarketingBrew’s “Art & Science of AI in Marketing” panel!
Reddit for Business@RedditforBiz

Big ideas from @MarketingBrew’s The Art & Science of AI in Marketing. At Where Insight Meets Action: Turning Data Into Decisions, Reddit’s Jonathan Tien, Director of Product, shared how AI helps marketers turn data into impact. “Community Intelligence is about distilling the intelligence from all Reddit's communities. We equipped the engine with the right signals and techniques. Asking, how do you look at the data? How do you sift through the data? How do you look for a signal? And I think that made all the difference in enabling this core engine to process this large volume of data, but bring only the most meaningful bits up to the surface.” When you equip AI with the right signals, you don’t just analyze data. You uncover what actually matters.

Less than 8 months later -- we are rolling out to stores nationwide. We have hundreds of units en route to showrooms -- you'll actually be able to try the products yourself in many of them (we'll be the only stove that works in many cases!)

We have a giant announcement at @ImpulseLabs_ — we're partnering with Zephyr to launch our technology in showrooms nationwide, starting this year. Zephyr is a leader in ventilation, refrigeration, and microwaves — and soon will have the highest performance cooking technology.

Meta has been trying to build this for at least 10 years. I was a design partner in 2017 but the tech was never there to produce the “why” insights that advertisers could trust. Seems like the tech is there now. This would be a huge step forward in providing transparency and explainability of their model and why certain assets work. Excited to see how this develops.

🚨 FB update 🚨 Meta confirmed they roadmapped building Creative Insights reporting into Ads Manager this year. Ability to report on fatigue and creative similarity, etc., from the ads manager to inform creative refresh and diversification strategies. It was about time, as so far this was only available through reps.
