The book 'Doughnut Economics' opens with the story of Yuan Yang who, as a young economics student back in 2008, was challenging the outdated theory she was being taught. Last night she was elected as the first-ever MP for Earley & Woodley. Huge congratulations @YuanfenYang !

@Bill_Sutherland There’s a recent attempt at a gradualist synthesis as an alternative, I think: cambridge.org/core/journals/… I vaguely recall a conversation that topography is integral to this and therefore there was quite a lot of estuarine modelling. Definitely at the edge of my knowledge here…

@rich_ Interesting and thanks. As I understand it the Mesolithic community left due to sea level rise and a tsunami resulting from a landslip off Norway - the Storegga Slide.

Class act is @sarahsackman who manages to pay tribute to former MP Mike Freer, praise the change Keir Starmer has brought to Labour, and vow to carry on having Fri night dinners as MP.

@Saddy_94 Lots and lots of new dynamics. And no idea how long many of them will go on for, either.

@AndyPurvisNHM Truly this paper has been the gift that never stops giving - and there’s no reason that it ever should.

@jamesrbuk @llandudyes @guyshrubsole National totals don’t help this debate. Individual small catchments can be devastated because the local runoff is catastrophic, but it’s barely noticeable if you measure the proportion at the mouth of the Thames, say.

Logged on for the first time in months to find an old link - timeline full of Andrew T*&e, Musk tweets and ads for GB news. Have this, go elsewhere.

Just breaking my own Twitter embargo to congratulate @johnmittermeier and colleagues on refinding Otidiphaps insularis after 146 years, and also on outrunning pirates. We need to adjust the postgraduate research skills training accordingly :) bbc.co.uk/news/world-asi…

@ArisKatzourakis @RELenski It’s not a random sample of individuals by any means. Wildlife rescues and short trap periods - more likely to get sick and habituated individuals.

@RELenski Positive seroprevalence doesn't mean the virus is established in those species though
