@jonboy72 Ha! I’m not sure there’ll be much of the latter – the concours is very strict and one of the best on the scene. It’s a really nice relaxed ‘family’ show, too – and that’s why I like it. Let’s chat near the time then – would be nice to enjoy it with a similar mind!

@richgoodingcom i'm knackered from work, but its the principle and the lack of effort from their side. We can catch up more local when the weather gets drier (whenever that is!)

@jonboy72 @Takona_official Oh, wow! Thank you. Just like my old car, you see… 😉 (Although this one’s paintwork is much nicer. Manila Green used to be the VW colour of the period that faded the most, or so the local dealer used to tell me after I bought copious amounts of respray cans.)

@richgoodingcom @Takona_official that sunstrip instantly makes its cool! its a couple of old VW friends who i have not seen for 10 years who have talked about meeting up since my dad died. i even waited for one of them in a services in Andover last summer before they made an excuse.

@TedWelford That’s more than my Polo BlueGT with cylinder deactivation (which I still think is very undervalued tech). I have got an extra 45bhp, though… Current ‘AW’ Polo looks set to be made until 2029, if not necessarily sold in the UK. Will probably see its 50th birthday, too.

Done 500 miles in this entry-level (manual!) Polo in the past few days. Forgot how brilliant these are. Comfortable, refined, remarkably efficient and 550 miles to a tank! Cost just £55 to do this distance. It will be reverse progress if Euro 7 kills off cars like this.

@djnev I’m not expecting anyone to be there – there is a special event in Sweden after all, but it seemed the best night to go. Was bought a joint gift card for our 50ths last year, so wanted to use it wisely! Just pleased that we’re finally going – I’ve been a fan since I was a kid.

Went to pick up the Polo this afternoon after its window failure and regulator replacement, and chats with another Polo 6R owner and the long-time custodian of a gorgeous #Audi Ur-quattro have restored my faith in humanity a bit. #VW
