I hear people questioning why a full colonel would be flying combat missions. In the USAF, O6s occupy operations group and wing commander (and vice) positions. Leading in combat requires just that, leading. You can't lead from the airfield in combat as a flying commander, only from the cockpit. You better be combat mission ready.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Trump is escalating his rhetoric to force Iran to the negotiations table. This is a fact. But if Iran does not give in, what then? Then he looks like a loser who throws around empty threats, and he will actually have to follow through on military escalation. Even if he will not nuke Iran—which he won’t—he will need to escalate the attacks to not look weak. That’s the problem.

We Japanese witnessed this more than half a century ago when we fought against the Americans.
When one of their military aircraft was shot down and the pilot found himself adrift alone in the vast Pacific, they did not hesitate to send out a Catalina flying boat to search for him and rescue him, despite the risk of being shot down themselves.
We were not capable of doing that.
And so we were defeated.
In that sense, the Americans have not changed at all since those days.
That is precisely what makes them America.

You don’t use this many aircraft for a “rescue” mission. This was a botched invasion to steal the uranium that Iran stopped. Americans are so gullible.
