I finally had a few minutes to set up a Mastodon account. I was lazy about picking a server and went with the one built into my browser. rott3n@vivaldi.social

OpenAI’s ChatGPT is susceptible to prompt injection — say the magic words, “Ignore previous directions”, and it will happily divulge to you OpenAI’s proprietary prompt:

If you are out of ideas, go for a walk. This paper found walking (whether outdoors or a treadmill) increased key types of creative thinking for over 80% of undergraduates. The reasons are not fully clear, but there seem to be direct effects on the brain. apa.org/pubs/journals/…

Developer advocacy is simple. You just need skills in engineering, marketing, business development, product management, content creation, and be a skilled communicator, both written and verbal. After that, the job really takes care of itself.

@helenewecker The trick is to top it off before it gets empty. Then you can have one cup of coffee ... all day.

My goal of limiting my coffee to one cup per morning has been shot dead by my goal of waking up at 5am

Tired of writing "wip" commits? Don't remember your code changes anyway? Let AI write the commit message for you: wtfcommit

@Degoedel @Harkaway That should be doable. I am aware of tech manual writers who just use git as-is. Building the equivalent of an IDE with git integration for writers shouldn't insurmountable. You could even throw in AI augmentation for writing assistance.

It is unconscionable that a city of 900,000 people has a downtown that's essentially a parking lot. (Columbus, OH)

Just over a year ago, I read a paper which showed that when private equity buys nursing homes, death rates go up 10%. I was a med student at Stanford, but I halted my studies to investigate. Today, that investigation was published in @NewYorker newyorker.com/news/dispatch/…

@petervgeoghegan Maybe you can get AWS to accept the URI extension as a supported extension. :-)

@__mharrison__ In recent years? I think, "pydantic" tops that list - so simple yet so valuable. It is a paradigm shift. Also how easy it was to swap out "requests" for "httpx". In the early years (90's) ? That you could structure your code visually.
