🚨 #SaintsFC showed the commission, in its entirety, the footage of Tonda Eckert’s session from the Wednesday before the first leg; in other words before Salt’s spying mission. The Southampton players had the day off on the Thursday, and on the Friday before the first leg, they did not work on team shape in open play. It was purely a defensive set-piece session, the footage of which they also shared with the panel. What Southampton and their legal team wanted to show – and which was borne out by the game – was that Eckert’s tactical approach did not change from the session on Wednesday. The club claim their defensive set pieces were not influenced by Salt’s visit to Middlesbrough’s training ground. [via @guardian]

@markwb_88 "What advantage?" - well, you must have though there would be some because you were prepared to break the rules, cheat and possibly suffer the consequences. Hardly much point in doing that if there was no advantage to be gained?

The media has influenced this massively. The club deserves some credit, going 21 games unbeaten. That’s not luck. The best thing for the club, us fans is to stick together and go again next season. A mass exit is not good for the club or us fans. #saintsfc

If the EFL had any balls whatsoever they would just promote Hull automatically. Putting Boro into the final just create's another headache should they beat Hull, when Hull have been preparing to face us for the last 10 days. £200k for Leeds. £200m for Saints. Farcical.

The EFL haven’t just punished us; they’ve ruined us. In addition to losing half our team, we’ll be sued for many, many millions by players, sponsors & rival teams. We’re essentially facing years of decline and pain on and off the pitch. Thats why this is disproportionate.

I get that you might bend the rules for a massive one-off game but you were doing it for a match against Oxford who were bottom all season! Proof that the cheating was endemic.
