@rickyahill Count myself lucky to have been there that day & can still see you scoring (& making another). There’s no absolutely no doubt, best player to wear the town shirt I’ve seen.

You are too kind Paul ❤️.crazy to think that the photo is almost fifty years old, and I've only recently seen it. That moment really was the beginning of my professional journey 🥂👊🏽🙏🏽

@rickyahill Belated happy birthday Ricky . They say never meet your heros but have met you a few times and proved that your heros can be top blokes . Saw your first and last Hatters game and to me the finest to ever wear the Town shirt .

Thank you Mark - The support and encouragement that you and so many Luton supporters bestowed upon me and the team , made it so rewarding , and proud to be a "Hatter"👊🏽❤️🙏🏽🥂

@Keepers_Union @rickyahill Ricky was an idol to so many Luton fans. Modest, unassuming and amazing talent that deserved so many more England caps. We will literally never see his like again.

Great player Andrew 👏🏽🥂🙏🏽

@footballmemorys My first football idol, and just like @rickyahill he made everything look easy. Could pass a thread through a needle, glided over the pitch (mud) box to box and scored some great goals

That seems to have been the greatest difference in modern day squads - That ultimate togetherness irrespective of the result or task ahead .. #COYH .. 🥂

@Up_North_Trips @rickyahill You can't buy team spirit and morale. In turn you also can't buy respect.

Agreed 👍🏾
Joe@Up_North_Trips

@rickyahill No, but it’s reasonable to expect it drastically shortens the odds (of scholars forging a professional career) if good talent stays at clubs with better pathways over PL hoarding of talent. Compare the fortunes of all the youth that left in the non league days vs James Justin.

It's not a new scenario regarding the top clubs prising the best talent away unfortunately. Are we just looking at PL calibre quality in order to warrant opportunity at the club ?
Joe@Up_North_Trips

@rickyahill It’s not that easy. Past two summers, PL clubs have signed youth from us that have already been in their first team match day squads. EPPP is weighted in their favour, but even before that, the club operates in a highly competitive region on the fringes of London.

At last there seems to be an effort to at least afford an opportunity to some young players ( JJ and Jake Richards although recruited). Times change I know, but with the investment made throughout the youth development set up , there needs to be a 'homegrown' presence constantly
Ian4Downton@ian4downton

@rickyahill Shocking & unforgivable you were only given four months with no money - yet we latterly seem to indulge 'yes men' managers with millions and they just squander it on journeymen. Where are the kids coming through? Where is the scouting to bring in young lads to develop?

@ian4downton - Sadly for me there were different owners, perhaps if 2020 were in situ some common sense may have prevailed during my tenure. That said, there seems to be a trend in recruiting inexperienced young Managers/Head Coaches who are still trying to get established 🥂👊🏽
