You labelled Sen. Gbenga Daniel an old man and suggested he step down to let the youth lead. Meanwhile, you are actively campaigning for Peter Obi, another old man, to become president. Is 65-year-old man a youth? Is Obi not tired of desperation to contest and let youths lead? 👀
Dr. Michael Nwaokike@dr_nwaokike

@JustusOGD Are you guys not tired? Is it greed or serve that will make an old man come out of political retirement to resume active politics? When are the Nigerian youths truly going to have the chance to be the leaders of tomorrow??

Today, I joined Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State at the Yoruba Tennis Club in Onikan for their Centenary Seminar Lecture. In his lecture, Governor Oborevwori spoke on inclusive governance and national unity, a timely reminder of the role leadership must play in bringing our country closer together.

There’s a story about Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, that has stayed with me not just about leadership, but about growth, humility, and how life comes full circle. It was shared quietly at a retreat by someone who had worked closely with him. He spoke of a journey that, at first glance, looked like steady, uninterrupted progress: from Special Adviser to the Deputy Governor, to Special Adviser to the Governor, then Acting Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, and later Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions. A clear rise. Step by step. Until life interrupted the script. When the administration of Babatunde Fashola ended in May 2015, Mr. Governor stepped out of the system. For about a year, he was no longer part of government. And when he returned in 2016 under Akinwunmi Ambode, it was not at the same level but as Managing Director of the Lagos State Property Development Corporation. From sitting in the State Executive Council the highest decision-making body to operating outside of it, now reporting within a structure he was once a political head For many, that could have been a breaking point. But not for him. And this is where the story deepens. The man telling it revealed that years earlier, while Mr. Governor was Commissioner, he himself had been a Personal Assistant to a Permanent Secretary. Yet, he was treated with dignity, respect, and humanity never reduced by his title. Years later, that same Personal Assistant became a Permanent Secretary in the Governor’s Office. And when Mr. Governor returned as head of a parastatal, that same individual now in a position of influence became instrumental in ensuring his work moved smoothly through the system. Not because of politics. Not because of obligation. But because of character remembered. That is the quiet power of how you treat people. There is also a broader lesson one that history itself has shown us. When Bola Ahmed Tinubu was forced into exile during the military era, many could not have imagined that he would return not just into the system but to help rebuild and redefine Lagos State through a long-term vision and master plan. It is not easy to be out of the system. It is not easy to return. And it is even harder to return stronger. But it is possible. Mr. Governor’s journey reminds us that growth is not always a straight line. Sometimes, you rise. Sometimes, you step aside. Sometimes, you come down from the highest table and find yourself in a different room entirely. And sometimes, your peers move ahead of you. But life is not a race of positions it is a test of character. Sometimes, it is not about ego. Sometimes, it is about endurance. About accepting seasons. About staying grounded even when your title changes. Because in the end, he moved from being outside the State Executive Council… to becoming the Head as Governor of Lagos State. That is the truth about growth. Stay consistent. Stay respectful. Stay focused. Because time has a way of revealing those who were prepared not just by position, but by character. And when the moment comes, it will not just be about where you are… It will be about who you have always been. @jidesanwoolu thank you for your leadership
