Jo Nagai was raising swallowtail butterflies at his home in Kobe, Japan, when he noticed something odd. The ones he had looked after as caterpillars seemed to recognize him. Wild butterflies fled. His didn't. He was in second grade. He wrote a four-page letter to Dr. Martha Weiss, an entomologist at Georgetown University who had studied whether moths could retain memories through metamorphosis. He asked if she could help him design a version of her experiment for butterflies. She said yes. Using a muscle therapy device, Jo trained caterpillars to associate the scent of lavender with a mild vibration. When the caterpillars became butterflies, 70 per cent of them still avoided the lavender. Their brains had been completely rebuilt during metamorphosis. The memory survived anyway. Then he bred them. The offspring, which had never been trained, also avoided lavender. So did their grandchildren. Without ever experiencing the vibration, two generations of butterflies inherited an aversion to a scent their grandmother had been taught to fear. Jo documented it all in a 33-page research paper and presented his findings at the International Congress of Entomology in Kobe in 2024. He was 10. 🚨This video is terrifying. And it’s another example of how ICE is making everyone less safe. At Las Vegas International Airport, two people, in plain clothes, are seen trying to handcuff a man. The man is screaming for help. When the person filming asks a TSA agent what is happening, the agent replies, “It’s law enforcement.” But when the person filming walks over and starts recording the people claiming to be law enforcement, one of them tries to swat the phone away. Then, as more people begin watching, they get up and leave. The man is left with a handcuff still attached to one of his wrists. He is visibly shaken and says they stole his belongings. Think about how dangerous this is. The government is normalizing armed agents, in plain clothes, grabbing people in public, without immediately identifying themselves in a way bystanders can verify. That creates confusion, panic, and makes it impossible for ordinary people to know whether they’re witnessing a lawful arrest, or a kidnapping. In this case, people intervened… They started asking questions, and filming. If no one had stepped in, who knows what would have happened to that man. A government that expects people to simply accept unidentified agents, taking someone away without question, is making every person in this country less safe.

365 years of temperature data from central England, the world's longest running climate record, show no trend. Despite a six-fold rise in population and a surge in CO2, January temperatures have barely shifted since 1600. Likewise for July, the hottest month of the year, temperatures are virtually unchanged. The warmest winters on record happened in the 1700s, the 1800s, and the early 1900s, long before modern emissions. Any warming is slow, natural, with the slight modern uptick likely linked to 1) the urban heat island effect, and 2) earth's gradual recovery from the little ice age. Estáis preguntando varios que con este enfoque cómo se explican los cambios de opinión política. Mi explicación de esto sería que los cambios no ocurren por elección libres sino por razones, por unas causas. Por ejemplo, hay estudios que encuentran que no es la edad lo que te hace conservador sino el tener hijos: royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs… Al tener responsabilidades y criaturas inocentes que dependen de ti es posible que valores más la seguridad y te hagas más conservador, por ejemplo.
