Many self-appointed “Sikh representative” orgs engaging government have no democratic mandate, no congregation behind them, and little or no accountability to the wider Sikh community. They rarely report back to the Sikh community, hold no elections, and often lack even the most basic institutional roots or history. Most don’t own a building, yet freely appropriate the decades of seva, legitimacy and grassroots work built by Gurdwaras and the Sangat. Representation without accountability is not representation — it is networking dressed up as leadership.

SGPC needs to start its own drive, not by forcing people back to Sikhi but preventative action by educating the population on Sikh values, theology, and history, and also improving the society so locals feel supported, as missionaries prey on the weak and vulnerable.
