The Vikings "briefly explored" a 2nd-year on the contract for Kyler Murray, per @AlbertBreer. You can definitely tell the Vikings and Kevin O'Connell have envisioned this as more than a 1-year fling. "Then, Murray, Brezinski, O’Connell, Burkhardt and a few others had lunch in the draft room, the Vikings’ brass broke off for a final meeting with the doctors, and then O’Connell pulled Murray aside and told him he wanted him to come aboard. Murray responded, “This is where I want to be.” And from there, Brezinski and Burkhardt went to negotiate a relatively simple deal on the minimum, with a second year briefly explored, and a no-tag provision included." Kyler Murray will visit with the Minnesota Vikings tomorrow. A starting spot is a priority, and Minnesota does offer that and a deal could be done in the next 24 hours. But Murray and his camp are expected to explore several options as a backup in 2026 for teams that could need a starting QB in 2027 over the next 24 hours.

The #Vikings converted the full base salaries of Justin Jefferson, Byron Murphy Jr. and Christian Darrisaw to signing bonuses, while doing SB conversions on Jefferson and Darrisaw's $250,000 workout bonuses.
They deferred $17.76 million of cap space with Jefferson's restructure, $8.99 million with Darrisaw's and $11.248 with Murphy's. Total 2026 cap space deferred with the three moves: about $38 million.
