@KySquirrel_90 Yea, I saw Mando S1. It lost me half way through, because it lost the Mandalorian story. I still filter all Mando stories through @karentraviss's writings.
After that, I dropped Disney because of their blatant anti-everything-I-hold-dear attitude.
English

@riksca At the end of the day? Probably. I haven't seen it, so I can't testify to its quality, or lack thereof. Of Disney Wars, I've only seen TFA, Rogue 1, Mando season 1, and Ahsoka season 1. And that last one just to laugh at it.
English

@KySquirrel_90 Yea, I remember it as being a fun little movie. Didn't move any dials, but it was in canon with the original stories. And it was both a good Space Opera and good Star Wars.
Never understood why so many hated it. Maybe because it wasn't Ford?
English

@riksca You liked Solo, huh? I've heard very few people say that!
English

@KySquirrel_90 I was there until basically episode 3 (by number). Never saw it and after hearing about it, never wanted to.
Liked Solo and Rogue One.
The third trilogy lost me slowly, but the 3rd movie destroyed my love of SW.
English

@riksca I had completely dropped out of Star Wars way before Disney bought it, so it didn't hit me as hard. But I had a lot of friends who were diehard Star Wars fans, so I felt bad for them.
English

@KySquirrel_90 Yea, not at all. The original Thrawn trilogy was practically written for the screen.
The Jedi Academy stuff would have been great to take off of.
The Jedi Healer stuff would have made great side stories.
The world was rich. We got fool's gold.
English

@riksca It wouldn't have been that hard to do, either.

Honest Question for My Orthodox Christian Friends
How can a woman in a leadership role as a civil servant live out true Christian submission?
I’ve spent 35 years working my way up in public service, and I’ve only been seriously following the Orthodox Church for the past three years. I love my work and the responsibility that comes with it, but I’m wrestling with how to reconcile being a decisive leader in my professional life with the Orthodox call to humility, obedience, and submission.
Can one be a strong, competent female leader while still embodying the submissive spirit expected of an Orthodox Christian woman?
I’m not looking to rebel against Church teaching — I genuinely want to grow in faith. Any wisdom, Scripture references, or practical examples from those who have navigated leadership roles while staying faithful would be deeply appreciated.

@TapRootsFood Then we're not saying different things. One of my first posts was to acknowledge that it is easier to cook a brisket trimmed to the manner in which you described.
I actually think we've mostly lost the art of smoking (and generally cooking) fatty foods.
English

@riksca Burnt ends are fine but that’s a different argument altogether. Your success rate goes up to more aerodynamic it is. I’m not saying you can’t still get good brisket, but you’re making your life a lot harder.
English

You trim it some so that it cooks more evenly not because fat is bad it’s all about having a better cook (more even cook between the flat and point).
The Carnivore RN@wilsonhlthcoach
I was told that I should've trimmed the fat before smoking the brisket. We love fat, so I left it on. What do you think? Trim the fat or leave it on?
English

@TapRootsFood Yea, I've done it, and I'm not a great smoker, but was satisfied with the outcome.
There is also the technique I've not personally tried, but enjoyed others doing, of cutting the fat portion off after the rest is done, and continue cooking that, called burnt ends.
English

@riksca I’m not saying you can’t cook it full fat but your point will be done typically a hour or more before your point is. It’s just thickness even at 225 the flat is usually half the thickness of the point.
English

@GigaBasedDad I will thankfully eat my steaks the way I want to.
Don't normally eat them this way, but have, and lived another day.
English

@BLeBlan68656830 @Orthodixie Ummm. In public, I will strive to do so just for you. At home, when talking with my wife, I likely will not, because it will not confuse us.
English

@riksca @Orthodixie I appreciate doing what you must to get through Lent, but… just give it another name. 🙏😉
English

Okay. So. I'm from NC & my mom always called it "chili beans". But. Some folks get fired up 'bout such: @BLeBlan68656830
Rich O'Toole@RichOToole
Dudes that don’t add beans in chili, what’s your favorite lip gloss?
English

@BLeBlan68656830 @Orthodixie That's why I quoted the word vegan. It was meant to just refer to something we make during fasting times (Orthodox Christian). Not meant to be a reclassification.
And, the Cincinnati comment was a throw away line meant to be cute.
English

@riksca @Orthodixie 1) there is no such thing as vegan/vegetarian chili. The full name is chile con carne. You’re eating spicy vegetable soup.
2) Cincinnati chili is a completely different food. It’s more akin to a Mediterranean meat sauce (invented by a Greek immigrant, so that makes sense).

@DivaQBBQ It's honestly worth the time to get an ice cream maker and do it at home.
English

I really wish more companies would make real ice cream again. So many products in the freezer aisle aren’t even allowed to call themselves ice cream anymore because of all the added ingredients and substitutions.
To legally be labeled ice cream, it has to meet standards set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration—including having at least 10% milk fat.
Instead, a lot of brands are cutting corners with cheaper fillers, oils, and stabilizers, and calling it “frozen dessert” or something similar.
They need to make real ice cream again. It’s not that complicated.
ejdias@ejdias
@DivaQBBQ I think Ben & Jerry's did a limited edition Willie Nelson Peach Cobbler ice cream. That was a few years back but it was super good. Wish more companies would make the peach flavor.
English

BTW, if you read that and went, Oh yes, and are in KC for any reason, you need to try one at bbslawnsidebbq.com/menu/. And stay for the music.
(I am not affiliated with bbs, etc etc etc).
English

I would do this.
Almost as good as a BBQ Sundae.
Grits n Football@goodbreffis
BBQ “Banana Split” 🧐
English

@wilsonhlthcoach The only way to correctly remove the fat is to "melt" it off with another round of smoking.
Or what we call in KC, burnt ends.
