I've been calling AOC for President for years. It just was an obvious trajectory to me. Incredibly popular, close and obviously special relationship to Bernie, and liberals like her. Bernie lost in part because liberals really hated him. But they like her, so it's a layup.

@MalloryMovies So she shouldn’t do something because it’s not “tactically beneficial”? Why not just become a fully corrupt corporate shill at that point?…assuming she isn’t one yet

AOC already has done 2 and 3, not that she’ll ever get credit from her detractors who have a maniacal obsession with misrepresenting her views and record, but I’d like to address the first point: she should not apologize. There is literally zero tactical benefit to doing so. /1
Kate Willett@katewillett

AOC could win back good will from former supporters (like me) by simply: 1. Apologizing for her “working tirelessly for ceasefire” lie. 2. Clearly stating she opposes SELLING weapons to Israel. 3. Adding pro Palestine advisors. Russiagate Bernie Bros 2 won’t win voters.

@tenantny87 @delmoi @ryangrim The centrist pundit class now thinks they should manufacture their own Joe Rogan in order to compete because they refused to go on the show in 2024

AOC did not actually object to the Bernie-Rogan interview. As I reported in my book, she thought it was a tactical mistake to post a video on twitter bragging about it, because it was a certainty it would cause an uproar. Her argument was lean into it where it helped, but don't inflame where it will hurt. (What actually ended up happening suggests her argument had merit, on a tactical level.)

When Bernie went on Rogans podcast during the 2020 race, AOC objected and it caused a lot of internal grumbling in the campaign. She has a hard time ever communicating with anyone outside her ideological bubble.

@Ericrse37986 @shshshdshf With Bernie it was concern trolling about his heart attack and general health. This was in 2020 mind you, before the genocide and before the democrat base turned on the I/P issue

@Ericrse37986 @shshshdshf The real answer is that the Israel lobby doesn’t actually make Israel a campaign issue. They obfuscate & hit the progressives where they’re weak. W/ Bush and Bowman it was that they voted down Biden’s BBB. W/ these guys it’s that they’re rich billionaires.

@adamjohnsonCHI @altleftto So there will be a wide lane for anyone who wants to split from the pro-Israel uniparty and form a new party, correct?

Forgive me for being cynical but I just watched 10yrs of “realignment” media guys promise me there was an authentic antiwar movement in MAGA then Trump got in office, starved Gaza and Cuba, kidnapped Maduro, continued the genocide, attacked Iran and increased the DOD budget 50%

You can keep saying Kamala lost due to a single day of campaigning with Liz Cheney, but it will never be true. She lost because Dems renominated an unpopular 82 yo while inflation was high and realized what a disaster it was too late and plan B was mid.
David Sirota@davidsirota

The Resistance Dems/Never Trump corporate faction of the Dem Party that remains hostile to Graham Platner is also the party faction that cheered Dems proudly embracing Dick & Liz Cheney, the duo who lied America into war & created authoritarian powers Trump is now wielding 🤔

@barbarismcrit @fullslack_ I think it’s worse, she’s going to run it back to Warren’s 2020 campaign in 2028. Her wanting to stop campaigning for Bernie after he promoted Joe Rogan, baseless accusations of sexism whenever criticisized from her left, etc.

@riplaika @fullslack_ Def think it’s more about that than anything. Comity always takes precedence over policy in Congress. It’s infuriating.

Some people try to say “oh AOC strategically waits until closer to the election to endorse” but in today’s political landscape endorsements early to build awareness and momentum while maintaining that momentum nonstop is necessary. Late endorsements are risky & careless.

@katewillett @KyleDChurch Note that she’s stayed silent on Abdul’s race this year thus far. Last time he ran for something statewide she supported him cnn.com/videos/politic…
