I've been learning all about virtualization. Mainly I've learned that it seems like a much better idea than it really is.

@ScottCochran - No, I'm a cross-platform GUI coder, trying to run all my target platforms on a single Xeon box. It just doesn't work at all.

@ScottCochran - I tried the 30-day free trial of VMware Workstation, but the install got wedged. I'd use VMware if I could get it to work.

@ScottCochran, I think my problem is actually that the developers have all specifically focussed on server apps, and not the desktop.

@ScottCochran, Parallels works well on my MacBook Pro. I would try Parallels for Linux, but it looks like it's way out of date.

@IsaAnne1 - I'm 45, but I still have many of my toys from when I was a little boy. A favorite is a martian with a clear green head.

I spent much of the day at Home Depot - two different Home Depots - and Orchard Supply Hardware. I'm getting back into woodworking.

Just after midnight, the consensus was that if I kept orbital sanding my new bookshelves, the neighbords were going to call the cops.

@topherchris - It seems to me that tweeting while in the arms of a woman would be even less welcome than Les Papillons des Amour.

I'm pretty sure I have the swine flu. In a little bit I'm going to go find a doctor. It was everything I could do to drive home from work.

Almost done with the flu. Went back to work today but had to leave after just three hours. Will try again tomorrow.

Back to work today, this time for sure. I'll be able to work a full day. Still feeling a little out of it. It's been two weeks!

I'm looking for a used copy of Sedgewick Algorithms 2nd Edition (1988). It's a single volume, with the algorithms expressed in pseudocode.

I found Sedgewick's Algorithms at http://www.alibris.com I have Intro to Algorithms by Cormen et al, but you could kill a man with it.

I have decided to reclaim my crawford@goingware.com email by using Thunderbird to mark all 230,000 messages as Junk or Not Junk.

I never obscured my goingware email, with the result that it now gets 30,000 messages per day!
