@ciencia_invest @MattisRedacted No Lol Their contribution to the war of austrian succession was negligible, the war of jenkins' ear was a big nothingburger, they were just a giant punching bag in the napoleonic wars, and the only thing of note they did in the 19th century was losing all their colonies

@HoJoMe @LeutweinsG This is disingenuous, the commission was set up under massive international pressure, and international commissioners were elected to lead the effort in order to avoid bias. Their findings were considered grave enough to justify Belgium's annexation of Congo as a colony

My theory (and solution) on the fertility "crisis" has been consistent for years: Young people move to the The City for school, opportunity, adventure etc. But they are reaching the (not unreasonable) conclusion that having kids means moving away. So they delay. This is *partly* due to the cost of family housing, childcare + education ... but the primary driver has become social or cultural: they just DO NOT SEE families around them. This becomes a self reinforcing downward loop. Fewer kids means reduced services for families: schools close, fewer high chairs and kid's menus in restaurants etc. This is exacerbated by the higher costs the cities impose on childcare and the ~monopoly they have on schools and enforcement of disorder. It's an incredibly difficult cycle to reverse and the only practical solution is an incremental one: make it easier for very young families to decide to stay. Appeal to the people who ALREADY love the City to make it their home when they have their first child. This starts by building housing designed FOR families, but also in improving safety, public education, local elementary schools etc. And slowly by adding more babies and toddlers, we make it more socially customary for places to be child friendly. Families who have lived in neighborhoods for years decide to send their kids to the local schools with their friends. And then hopefully as more of these pioneer families grow and flourish, the younger people around them see this and think: "Well if they are making it work ... then I guess I could too."
Bobby Fijan@bobbyfijan

Why aren't young people having kids? Because not only are housing+education costs too high, but they believe they have to uproot their entire life if/when they have children We need to make it easier to have little kids in the city (because that's where young people live)

I hate the Nazi regime as much as anyone. It was bad for the USA to kick the Cherokee, the Iroquois, and the Sioux out of their land. So why isn't it an even bigger crime to kick the German inhabitants of Konigsberg out of their own homes without recompense - houses their ancestors had made and lived in for centuries - and hand them over to Russians who had never lived there and did nothing to deserve it.

This day in 1945, Soviet forces launched the assault on Königsberg, a heavily fortified German stronghold. The battle ended when the German garrison surrendered 3 days later. Königsberg became a Russian city and was renamed to Kaliningrad in 1946. #WW2

@johnstretch @Quiet_eth1 An oft forgotten fact is that the European peoples were as disjointed as the Africans back in those days, albeit with stronger central governments. It took two centuries of enlightenment ideas, nationalism, and force of arms to forge those peoples into nation-states

Look at the history of Europe. Do you think the borders of the countries were neatly organised? No, they were formed by empires (Ottoman, Roman) and tribal warfare. It seems to me that Africa needs to get off the Victim’s Bench. Don’t forget the past but ignore it and move forward.

My brother, let me break it down for you like this. No African decided we should have exactly 54 countries. It was the European powers who sat down in Berlin in 1884 and 1885 and sliced up our continent like it was their own property. They drew those fake borders with zero Africans in the room. When independence came, our own leaders kept those same colonial lines instead of uniting. That is why Africa is still divided into 54 weak pieces today. As for the IMF, World Bank and WTO those were created in 1944 by the Americans and British while most of Africa was still under colonial rule. Our real leaders were not invited, they had no seat at the table. These institutions were built to maintain Western control after colonialism ended. They replaced the whip and the chain with debt, loans and harsh conditions that keep us exporting raw materials cheap and buying finished goods expensive. It is not development, it is control. Pure neocolonialism. The ICC and ICJ? Same trick. They call it international law but it is mostly used to hunt African leaders while Western countries do whatever they want. It is selective justice designed to keep our leaders scared and obedient. And why do we bow to unelected people in the United Nations? Because the whole system was designed by the same former colonizers. The powerful countries still control the real decisions in the Security Council. We are just playing in their game with their rules. The architect of this whole game? It is the Western powers especially America and the old European empires. They made sure that even after slavery and colonialism officially ended, Africa would still remain under their financial, legal and political dominance. This was not built to help us. It was built to dominate us forever. Until we wake up, expose it, reject the debt traps and start building our own systems, we will continue to be slaves in new clothes. Africa must rise. Real sovereignty is the only way.
AfricanJesu@AfricanJesu

Who decided there should be 54 African countries? Why is Africa under the financial control of WTO, World Bank, and IMF? Why is Africa under the legal control of ICC and ICJ? Why does Africa bow to unelected officials in the United Nations? Who is the Architect of this Game?

@GlobalRootsNews @dmoonglampers_ @Quiet_eth1 My friend those kingdoms ceased to exist when the european came. It wasn't they who the Europeans were in competition with, it was each other and the maps reflect that. The africans were just too insignificant to take into account

@dmoonglampers_ @Quiet_eth1 And were Westerners so stupid that they didn't know how to map African lands, and due to their brain damage, ended up creating the current maps? They should have stayed in Europe if they were incapable of mapping the original terrain and its respective kingdoms.

The archetype of “the good Russian” is the incessant attempt of the West to humanize the Russians and make them into something they are not. Ironically, the Russians that actively oppose the war - either by helping Ukrainians at the risk of their own lives or fled to Ukraine to fight on their side - are treated with utmost respect. Why? Because they have defied a culture that punishes being decent. But those are very few. The majority defend and support the invasion or are apathetic about it. Yet, the West is hellbent on humanizing them. They think the Russia will change once Putin is gone. It won’t. Because russia is full of Russians.

Everyone misses the point on mouse utopia. The standard reading of it is essentially Malthusian: too many mice, not enough space, behavioral collapse, "beautiful ones" withdraw, population dies. The popular takeaway becomes either "overpopulation doom" or "decadence causes civilizational collapse", which are moralistic framings that don't really explain anything. What actually happened is that the mice were placed in an environment where all constraint navigation was removed. No need to explore, forage, compete for resources in any meaningful way, build or maintain territory through actual competence. The environment was fully provisioned from outside. That's a system where agency has no functional role. The mice couldn't do anything that mattered. There was no feedback loop between behavior and survival. The problem isn't resource scarcity or abundance, it's that a centrally provisioned system destroys the local constraint gradients that agents need to develop and express competency. The mice couldn't form functional social structures because functional social structures are the solution to distributed constraint problems. Remove the problems, and the structures have nothing to coalesce around. The 'beautiful ones' are the clearest example. Mice that withdrew from all social life and did nothing but groom themselves. They weren't lazy or broken, they simply never had anything real to do. Nothing to solve, nothing that needed them. So they turned inward, endlessly, with nowhere else to go. The actual lesson is that agency is constituted by constraint navigation, and an environment that removes constraints doesn't liberate agents, but makes them slaves of themselves.
Arthur MacWaters@ArthurMacwaters

The haunting part about mouse utopia: > birthrate collapse happens when social structures collapse > abundance of resources actually makes things worse --- Literally not a single state in the US is above replacement rate in 2025. And it's not for lack of resources
