50% dropout in a year is actually better than most chronic medications. Statin adherence at 12 months is 49% across 67 studies. Antihypertensives are worse. Nobody frames statin dropout as evidence statins don't work. The real takeaway is that adherence is hard because we're asking people to manage symptoms indefinitely. The fix isn't better compliance programs. It's treatments that target the root cause so patients don't need lifelong prescriptions.

Stop a statin and your LDL cholesterol rises 30% in four days. Nobody writes a WSJ feature about it. Stop certain blood pressure medications and your BP can spike within hours. Nobody calls it a design flaw. Levothyroxine, antidepressants, insulin, metformin, antihistamines. Chronic treatments for chronic conditions, and all of them stop working when you stop taking them. None of them generate think-pieces questioning whether patients should have started. The AMA classified obesity as a disease in 2013. 1. „Орешник“ в стандартно въоръжение няма цел. Те използват дефицитен комплекс, от който има само няколко бройки, и чиято основна задача е да пробие ешелонираната противоракетна отбрана на стратегическия противник (САЩ) с цел да сплаши Украйна, въпреки че от предишните два пъти стана ясно, че това е празна заплаха. Да си представим дори, че в гаражите , където падна Орешник в Бела Церков е било съсредоточено някакво незначително военно производство. Дори това е задача за няколко „Шахеда“, а не за стратегически комплекс. Ако бяха решили да отопляват печката едновременно с долари и с труда на Дугин, щеше да им излезе много по-евтино. Освен това – това е единственият останал супераргумент на тяхната пропаганда, а те сами го обезсмислят. 2. Комплексен удар по Киев. Другарите, които изобщо не са ни другари, изсипват върху града няколкостотин милиона долара с практически нулев резултат. Но да си представим, че всички ракети без изключение са поразили всички неизвестни военни цели. Украинското военно производство е разпръснато, да го унищожиш дори с масирани удари е практически невъзможно. Да уплашиш украинците – невъзможно, само можеш да ги разгневиш, в петата година на войната и това вече е ясно. В крайна сметка се получава удар по принципа „ами трябва да се направи нещо“. Подобно планиране означава задънена улица. Основният проблем на Кремъл днес е, че всяко въоръжено въздействие върху Украйна, в рамките на достъпните му мащаби, не позволява постигането на поставените политически цели. Това означава, че войната, като начин за реализиране на политика с други средства, е загубила смисъла си. Технически това означава „поражение“, макар че според пропагандата може да се спори безкрайно. Донякъде логично изглежда целта на Кремъл да превземе Донецката област по суша – има с какво да оправдае петгодишната касапница пред очите на руския народ, но задачата на Кремъл да наложи на Украйна стратегическо поражение и промяна във външнополитическата позиция се провали. Освен това: - Донецката област все още трябва да бъде превзета и, съдейки по руските „успехи“ на сушата, това все още е под въпрос, - докато руснаците ще губят десетки хиляди свои войници, в РФ ще горят нефтопреработката и транспортирането, предприятията на военно-промишления комплекс и близката оперативна логистика – на далечните разстояния на тиловото осигуряване на фронта, при това Украйна само ще засилва силата на ударите си. Войната за Русия е загубила смисъл, а разходите са надхвърлили постиженията – както настоящите, така и бъдещите. Какво следва? Кремъл за известно време ще се движи по инерция, забивайки се в още по-голяма безизходица. А по-нататък – трябва да се помни, че единственото, което Русия не прощава на царете, са загубените войни.

Considering most streaming boxes use Cortex-A55 cores from 13 years ago and are slower than the Nvidia Shield TV, A17 Pro for streaming is ridiculous When we watch videos on this, we won't even use 3% of the CPU power, and the other 97% will just sit there.

Един от студентите дойде на презентацията на групата си (която е и изпит) в следния вид. Сега, знам, че модата се променя, ама все пак... Наложи се след презентацията насаме и деликатно да му обясня някои основни положения при избора на облекло за явяване на изпити и интервюта. Мисля, че разбра (или поне така се надявам).

I started worrying about US dominance in tech infra. So I did the founder thing: I stopped complaining and started testing European alternatives. First use case: AI inference. I built a certification layer to prove that the GPU handling my request is in Europe and that the data path does not leave Europe. @OVHcloud first. @Scaleway next. More providers after that. It worked. Then I started publishing a European tech stack list. But there was one stupid problem: The repo was on GitHub which too American. So I deployed Forgejo on an OVH cluster and started working on a scalable European Git setup that other builders could also use. This morning, OVHcloud suspended all my projects. They will be deleted in 7 days. You cannot make this up. This is the beginning of my journey to make European infra actually usable for developers and startups. Not policy papers. Not conference panels. Not sovereignty theatre. Just working infra. I’ll keep you posted.

Gabe Newell owns the majority share in Steam. Now, I know Newell somewhat. We've met. We've talked. He's not a close friend by any means. But it is by his will and genius that Steam is the way it is - a triumph of good guy capitalism. A great site for finding games, with cheap prices, frequent sales. Well ... I don't need to praise it here. You guys all know about it. When Newell passes away, it's unclear what will happen with Steam. Doubtless his shares will go to his family. Will they continue his vision? Or will they sell out to one of the many circling sharks who have been trying to buy it for years? What will happen if the sharks DO get their teeth into Steam? I believe that in that case Steam will go to hell in a handbasket. Owned by men in suits who don't give a sh*t about quality or the consumer. Probably it will become a subscription service or worse. If it gets sold to a horror show like Electronic Arts or Disney it'll be a nightmare. The only mitigating feature is that a different service might arise, but it will need to fight the rotting lumbering corpse of Steam to establish itself. I am content that since I am several years older than Gabe, it is plausible that I won't live to see this terrible day. But you might. Gabe Newell, to me, is literally barring the gates to Hell for us all.
