Beyond its mines, speedboats and array of anti-ship missiles, the "real" means of maritime disruption in Iran's possession is an arsenal of advanced marine drones. Informed Iranian sources privately say the mines are old technology in comparison. This is to say nothing about the possibility of both Hormuz and Bab El-Mandeb being shut down. Underestimating Iranian capabilities is what got Trump into this mess. Repeating that behavior would be another mistake. PS. The world's largest militaries, including the US and Russia, reportedly have military dolphins.
Kaitlan Collins@kaitlancollins

"To give you a sign of the desperate measures [Iran is] contemplating, the Wall Street Journal reported today that they're contemplating suicide dolphins, you know, dolphins equipped with mines to try to go after U.S. ships," @ksadjadpour says. "That's not a that's not a measure which projects real strength."

@mhmiranusa @TheIntelFrog There is no evidence a democrat won’t bomb if they dash towards the bomb again. Dude stop this deluded talk like IR can just build bomb without repercussion and I can see you’re getting excited about the reported closing of HS but reality is coming soon.

@TheIntelFrog Of course they do. Ayatollah has all the time he wants. And they will definitely go after the N bomb after a Democrat enters the White House, not repeating the mistake they made in the Biden time.

That's the least of the misinformation in that essay. The NYT Editorial Board states: "The Obama administration invited Iran to become a regional power so long as it gave up on having a nuclear weapon and followed basic international norms. The ayatollahs chose extremism and subjugation instead." Iran and the Obama administration signed a nuclear deal! It was Trump who walked away from it. The historical revisionism is insane.

Iran has faced 15 years of lost growth, but this analysis is incorrect. They didn’t use PPP figures so they are mainly capturing Iran’s exchange rate. Iran’s GDP per capita is about $20k, compared to a global average of $24k and it’s higher than that of the countries mentioned.

3 months ago, #Syria's gov't made a huge concession in talks with the #SDF, offering 3 dedicated MOD Divisions & Brigades for the YPJ & Special Forces. The #SDF then stalled through x2 US deadlines (Oct & Dec). It's tragic to know how close we were -- and now, full-scale war.

It still amazes me how many people don’t know Israel faced total annihilation and a second Holocaust (promised by Arab leaders) in the 1967 Six Day War. Watch and learn. Then realize customary international law permits preemptive strikes by a state facing imminent threat.

From day one, the Syrian government made its message clear. They don’t want a war with anyone. President Ahmad Al Shara said it many times. But he also said "We know how to fight" Now it’s up to Bibi 👌 do you want Ahmad Al Shara or Abu Mohammad Al Jolani? I wouldn’t recommend the second option.

One photo epitomizes the consequences of Israel's Syria policy after the fall of the regime. This photo from years ago was shared widely today by Syrians on social media. The young man in the photo is Hassan al-Saadi, and was killed overnight alongside a group of men in his town, Beit Jinn, when they opened fire on an Israeli Army raiding force. In total, 13 people were killed by Israeli gunfire and air raids, including women and children. According to a friend in the town, most of the residents (thousands of people) fled it after a bombing campaign that damaged dozens of home, fearing further Israeli retaliation. Hassan is holding an Israeli-manufactured M-16 rifle in the image, with a stock made by the Israeli Emtam firm, and the Picatinny rail made by IMI Defense, another Israeli company. Hassan received the rifle from Israel. He was previously a member of an opposition faction that was supported by Israel for years in the town, under the command of Iyad Kamal, better known as "Moro". The faction received weapons, and the town's inhabitants received humanitarian assistance and treatment in Israeli hospitals. Israel supported over a dozen of factions in southern Syria until the Assad regime & foreign Shia militias took over the area in 2018. Yet the cooperation with Moro was particularly deep - in late 2017, the town and surrounding areas fell under the siege of the Assad regime. Israel allowed hundreds of rebels from Quneitra and Daraa to cross by buses into besieged Beit Jinn via the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights, in an attempt to prevent the town from falling. It eventually did fall, leading to forcible displacement of opposition supporters from the town to northern Syria. Over the years, I've spoken to many dozens of residents of Beit Jinn, Quneitra and western Daraa that received humanitarian assistance from Israel (and support for rebel factions), and their view of Israel genuinely changed, particularly due to the life-saving treatment Israeli offered thousands of Syrians in Israeli hospitals. Members of factions that received Israeli support were particularly positive in their appraisal of Israel. It seems to me that this attitude, in part, was driven by the desire to avoid feeling that they are serving the interests of a hostile or exploitative country. After the fall of the Assad regime, Israel invaded and occupied parts of southern Syria, including villages and towns that between 2013-2018 received Israeli support. Israeli forces routinely raid villages, carry out arrests of suspects (many are released later), prevent villagers from working their fields or orchards and cut down entire groves to create line-of-sight for its forces. Beit Jinn is a mixed town of Syrians and Palestinian-Syrians. In a June 2025 raid, Israel arrested 6 residents, suspected Hamas members, and killed 1 of the town's residents. Syria's authorities are tracking the activities of Palestinian factions in Syria and are seeking to prevent them from targeting Israeli forces, fearing the destabilizing effect of an Israeli retaliation. Israel was made aware of these efforts, and is able to monitor the work of the new Syrian security services itself. Israeli national security officials recognize the eagerness of Damascus to reach a security deal with Israel, yet the will is lacking on the Israeli side, which prefers to maintain its freedom of action inside Syria over any settlement. Overnight, this decision led to the injury of 6 Israeli soldiers and death of 13 Syrians. Mike Huckabee must resign immediately. @RepThomasMassie should be appointed U.S. Ambassador to Israel effective immediately. Huckabee betrayed the President’s trust by holding a secret meeting with a convicted spy on U.S. Embassy grounds without informing the White House & allowed the traitor to publicly trash the sitting President of the United States as a, “madman who sold out for Saudi gold.” Mike Huckabee is incapable of representing the President’s vision for peace in the Middle East & a threat to national security.

Iran's Foreign Minister says there is currently no enrichment taking place From 🇮🇷-Perspective that's a wise thing to say ➡️ It's not about ongoing enrichment but: - Having 450kg of highly enriched Uranium - Having large numbers of centrifuge machines 25-75 nuclear-warheads can be build with that amount of 60% HEU. A good quantity for Iran's deterrence needs. Further 10 warhead worth HEU enriched in a year or so would not change that deterrence meaningfully. Iran is among the advanced countries in nuclear weapon design. 20 years ago, during the AMAD program it proved advanced capabilities in nuclear physics by developing a UD3 neutron initiator. ➡️ An advanced nuclear weapon with high compression can use 6 kilograms of 60% HEU to create a 6 kiloton explosion ➡️ A 6 kt warhead can be used as a fission primary in a multi-stage thermonuclear weapon. Enabling 50-100 kt fission-fusion warheads ➡️ 450kg means 75, Seventy-five, 60% HEU 6kt low-yield warheads or 75 ~100kt thermonuclear warheads In summery: Iran proved its knowledge on the 'physics package' more than 20 years ago during the AMAD program, hence it is: - Beyond the 450kg 60% HEU is sufficient for 10 warheads estimate (crude weapon design) - Beyond the technical requirement of further enriching to 90% HEU. It can just use available 60% HEU due to the weapon design proven in the AMAD program - Capable to design a multi-stage thermonuclear warhead, due to the mastering of UD3 neutron initiator developed 20 years ago Did the North Koreans share at least test data of their nuclear explosions with Iran? Well possible Therefore we have two realistic scenarios: - 25, 20-30kt small nuclear warheads, requiring further enrichment to 90% HEU - 75, 6kt low-yield advanced nuclear warheads working with available 60% HEU - 75, ~100kt very advanced thermonuclear warheads working with available 60% HEU ➡️ In this situation, whether Iran currently enriching or not is quite unimportant, it already has whats necessary. Below two graphs that explain what I said ⬇️

Iran says all uranium enrichment halted after US–Israeli strikes In an interview with the Associated Press (AP), Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran is no longer enriching uranium at any site, explaining that Israeli and US strikes in June crippled the country’s enrichment facilities. Araghchi insisted that Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear technology and enrichment remains “undeniable.” “There is no undeclared nuclear enrichment in Iran. All of our facilities are under the safeguards and monitoring of the International Atomic Energy Agency ... There is no enrichment right now because our facilities — our enrichment facilities — have been attacked.”
