Octavia Butler told me one of the failures of sci-fi /fantasy was its inability to imagine the alien other as anything different from a human form "with a mask on." I rate sci-fi on that basis to this day. Yes. I knew her. Yes. She was exceptional.

@mcwm i wonder if there’s some backend issue with shopify or something. ordered 3 orders from shopify-powered sites and confirmation emails have either not shown up or shown up hours late

i ordered some cycling sunglasses last night, mistakenly bought two pairs. didn't receive an order confirmation for 12 hours. emailed support asking if i could modify the order. just got an automated email saying both pairs are on their way ecommerce... still has some flaws
