Building regenerative coastal communities using web3 to power environmental action, data collection and transparency.

Single-use plastics (SUPs) continue to pose a serious threat to our environment due to their non-biodegradable nature and the long-term damage they inflict on our land, waterways, and overall quality of life. This is why the state’s enforcement of the SUP ban, though temporarily inconvenient, is both necessary and visionary; it is a bold step toward cleaner streets, healthier communities, and a more sustainable future for us all. In line with this mission, my office is proud to partner with @riteonthebeach on the #PlasticFreeJulyLagos campaign - a grassroots movement working to reduce the amount of plastic entering the waste stream. Through encouraged participation with local communities and schools across the state, the campaign will promote separation at source by distributing plastic bags for sorting recyclable plastics. With this hands-on approach, the hope is to help young people and everyday citizens build a culture of environmental responsibility from the ground up. Led by Mr. @akintundedisu, the team behind the campaign is not only working to curb the instream of new plastic waste, but also addressing the vast legacy waste that has accumulated over time. Their goal is clear and it is to speed up behavioral change, support scalable recycling systems, and help keep Lagos clean through collaborative effort. As I shared during their visit to my office, we are proud to support this mission, and we invite more partners, innovators, and everyday Lagosians to join us in building a plastic-free city. To participate in the campaign, you may reach out to @riteonthebeach to request for the bags. Let us do this together, people, for the sake of our environment, our economy, and our future. #OreoluwaFinnih #PlasticFreeJuly #RiteOnTheBeach #LagosSUPBan #SDG13 #ClimateAction #PlasticFreeLagos
