Opposing HS parents chirping in the 3rd… 12–2 and we’re still stealing. “Running it up,” they said. We kept playing vs one of the best teams in the state (IMO). Final: 13–9. Tying run at the plate in the 7th. One swing away. Enough said.

@CoachMarcusHill I used to blame baseball broadcasts romanticizing baseball principles into soundbites that parents apply to their kids... Now expand that for reality TV and cooking, roofing, etc.

I can’t for the life of me figure out why youth baseball (Little league age, travel ball, high school) is one of the only arenas where people with absolutely no experience have the strongest opinions. Stay with me here. Like adults that know for a fact they never played baseball ever stand at sporting events criticizing coaches or kids for making mistakes while also knowing virtually nothing about the subject matter. It’s the most ignorant, lacking any self awareness things in society. Do you also walk in the kitchen during dinner service and question the executive chef or ask the roofing professionals if they’re replacing your shingles correctly knowing you have no idea what you’re talking about it’s such an insane concept to me. Yelling at children knowing you trip over your own feet mowing your lawn. just be positive and encourage the kids, thank the coaches for doing the job you can’t even come close to doing. Stop embarrassing yourself and your kids.

If you are a baseball coach and haven’t taken a deep dive into Motor Preferences you might be cheating your players. It really is fascinating stuff and yes, I’m late to the party.

For what it's worth, training and certification are mandatory for coaching any competitive baseball here in Ontario. It can be done. My favourite part of the process is spending 4 hours in a session with 10-20 baseball coaches and learning from different experience and viewpoints. Especially if you have a good facilitator (ht: @deecdee3).

Industry. They focus on other things. Honestly, the industry has removed the ones that could teach it too. Look around at who is coaching young kids all the way up to the big leagues. Some of these are not qualified at all! I had to take a course in safety to coach youth football. Why isn’t there at least something for baseball? I appreciate ANY parent giving up their time for youth sports but they should have at least some guidance

MLB and college players are more talented than ever before. Why doesn't the playability prove it? Why is there so much sloppiness on the mound with pitchability, with at bats and situational play?

I've been a non-profit organization that helps Veterans and victims of domestic violence recover their stolen domain names. We've literally tried just about everything possible. I've actually spoken to the domain thief several times. He's US-based. But won't give them back. Now, we're trying to help raise enough funds to cover the legal costs to recover the domains, which includes UDRP domain name dispute filing fees. Whatever you can donate would be great. If you can't, then even sharing this on social would be a great help! gofund.me/60c79fca7 #domains #domainnames #stolendomains #nonprofit

people assume that every time you eat steak you're killing a cow.... but even if you ate 1lb of steak every single day, you wouldn't even kill one whole cow... one cow produces over 500 lbs of meat...and it does this from GRASS which is inedible to humans... cows are basically divine machines that convert inedible food into steak, milk, leather and so much more. yet people continue to say "cow farts are destroying the planet" the cow is the most sustainable and vegan thing you can eat God bless the cow

We're the same age, so I know you'll understand when I say Jack Morris in '91 was a defining moment as I was growing up and growing in love for the game. Legendary. I still think there's nothing more impressive than a dominant pitching performance. 🤩 But if the goal in a professional is team wins, and every little advantage matters, doesn't the manager have a responsibility to make the calls that are most likely to get the best outcome?

The elite could do it. There are elite arms still in the game. There are a lot more average to good arms than elite, hence why the numbers are the way they are. Also some of the beauty of the game is taken out also. The cat and mouse between hitter and pitcher. The game rewards players differently now also. Starters got paid on innings and going deeper into games. Players are giving the industry what it’s asking for.

@DMEASrecruiting @Challenger_ST No argument here on that point. It goes hand in hand with people realizing what has been a trend since the 70s. If 3rd time through is much less effective, might as well be the best you can for the time you have.

@RKF @Challenger_ST Some of the reason why they have trouble 3rd time through the order is because they are throwing the kitchen sink first time through. The creativity and pitch ability is gone. They have been taught to go max effort from pitch one. Some have too, some don’t.

I think there are a lot of different ideas and factors covered by what you're saying. Are pitchers less durable? Maybe. Are we also more informed about how significantly performance drops 3rd time through the order? Definitely. Benefits of matchups? Specialty relievers? As for poles, it's pretty clear that kind of training doesn't directly benefit baseball performance. That doesn't mean players don't need to train appropriately for maintaining strength and during the very impressive grind of a full season.

A lot can be said for how the game has gotten rid of “poles” etc and so has the starting pitcher going past 5 innings! I’m all for sprints etc but I’ll never take advice from 2 guys who played once a week! While all sports have their differences , playing 162 plus another 2 months there is some “marathon” traits to it

Common theme of all the best HS hitters I’m seeing is they attack the first pitch almost every AB & get their best swing off on that 0-0 count. If they swing thru it… they dont care. If your coach is telling you to be patient & take the 1st pitch most AB’s… u need a new coach!

Big announcement! After 16 years in SEO, today I'm launching something I've been building toward for a long time. 🥳 Introducing Algorythmic: my new SEO and AI search consultancy. For the past decade+, I've led award-winning SEO teams at agencies. I've spoken at ~100 conferences. I've spent thousands of hours analyzing Google algorithm updates, studying E-E-A-T, and more recently, figuring out how brands can show up well in AI-driven search. Now I'm channeling all of that into something of my own. Through Algorythmic, I'll be selectively working with brands 1:1 on SEO consulting, AI search optimization (AEO/GEO), E-E-A-T strategy, content quality audits, Google Discover, algorithm update recovery, hourly training, and more. I'm also excited to announce that as part of this launch, I will be continuing my role as VP of SEO & AI Search at Amsive, where I still oversee an incredible team of 30+ SEO experts (who won "Best Enterprise SEO Team" in 2025, according to the Search Engine Land awards!). Algorythmic will allow me to take on solo projects that are a strong personal fit for my skills and experience. Check out the comments for the link to my new site. BTW, if you're curious about the name Algorythmic: it's a mashup of "algorithm" and "rhythm." If you know me, you know those are the two things that have defined my entire life (especially 'rhythm'). The full origin story (involving a fictional SEO-themed deli my Amsive team created in 2019) is on the blog - link also in comments. I'm being very intentional about the work I take on through Algorythmic. If you think we'd be a good fit, I'd love to hear from you. Check out the new site and get in touch!

Comments are your average illiterate dipshit dadcoaches. Coding w/ R&D team late night and heard hitting. Walked out, saw Deven and Danny getting it in - 1st round was literally working on fouling LDs oppo. Don't take criticism from people you wouldn't ask advice of.
Deven Morgan@devenmorgan

My son and I went to the gym late last night to work out some stuff after 3 HS games worth of not hitting the way that he wanted. The session had both a data component and a feel / cue component. As a 17 year old who now has high 60's / low to mid 70's bat speed he has struggled in the last week - specifically against low velocity pitching - to let the ball travel deep enough to get good flush contact. Point being that we had a specific thing to work on. So on the technology side we're using Blast to bat speed, attack angle and VBA, and we're using HitTrax to monitor contact depth in addition to the outcome stuff - exit velocity, launch angle, distance and direction. We also were using two different pitching machines - one offset to the left side, the other offset to the right side. In terms of cues what we ended up with was: - As deep as possible while still being on time - High pitch posture, flat bat path and adjust off if needed But along the way we tried all sorts of stuff - everything from trying to hit a ball to the hot dog cart in oppo foul territory off the left hand off-set machine to trying to find middle of the field ball flight from the right hand offset machine to just going pure let it eat anywhere ball flight off of either machine to score a runner on 2B. In my mind, the best instruction environment for hitting is just a conversation that revolves around: - What were we trying to do vs what did we actually do - What signal can we get about why we did what we did - What adjustments do we need to make to bring our results closer to the intended outcome on the next swing But if the instructor and the player don't even speak the same language...man that conversation is going to be pretty limited in its effectiveness. Because he's 17 we're now able to have these kinds of conversations - with all of these various layers. But the critically important part of the whole thing is that this is an actual two way conversation. Meaning that he's telling me how he feels, we're looking at the data to correlate the feeling to the outcome, we decide on how or if we need to adjust intention for the next swing and we just wash, rinse and repeat that same cycle over and over and over. I wouldn't - and I didn't - coach him this way when he was 12. We used the same tech stack, but the data we paid attention to was a lot more limited. Because that was the level of depth he was able to have a productive conversation about at that time. I'm also exceptionally fortunate that at 17 years old he's still playing and I still get to have these conversations with him.
