You can’t have it both ways. You can’t claim on the one hand that Trump is some world-historical figure who alone demonstrated a grasp of the challenges of our time and then claim he was tricked into a disastrous war by the leader of a country of 10m and a sycophantic senator.

Megyn Kelly on the Iran War: “As this thing goes south, we need to know exactly who talked [President Trump] into it and what representations were made to convince the president that this was a good idea. Who? Who specifically? The names we know are Bibi Netanyahu first and foremost. Lindsey Graham, equally to blame. We know from the Wall Street Journal report that Mark Thiessen of Fox News and General Jack Keane were major advocates of the war. Ok, I like those guys, but they appear to have been very wrong that this was a good idea.” “And we could keep going. Mark Levin, chief among them. He says now, ‘Oh, it wasn’t me.’ Every night, every night on Fox News out there urging the president to do this. And then he had a meeting with him in June, where we know, he denies it now, we know he pushed him for this.” “Ben Shapiro was out on his show every day pushing this war. Like, there were very prominent activists on the right who were practically frothing at the mouth for this thing. And now that it’s not only going poorly, but the president’s poll numbers are in a precipitous freefall, we’d love to see some accountability. Who? Who promised him what?”

Putting the current leader’s name and image on everything is an authoritarian move, designed to make them seem more present, more powerful, more invincible than they are. It is a betrayal of American democracy, where power belongs to the people. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

Since Vietnam, every time we are at war we have been reminded that there are two classes in America: Those who theorize about war and those who die in war.

Trump’s first surgeon general is trying to block his potential second. @JeromeAdamsMD says his disagreements with @CaseyMeansMD are “operational, not personal.” “The irony would be the nation’s doctor wouldn’t even be in the corps as a doctor,” Adams said.

With all due respect, the Secretary of Transportation should be using the resources at his disposal to **Fix the bottlenecks and shorten the lines** - not sitting on Twitter dunking on the other party. Not everyone is performative. Not everything has to be a tweet. Do your job.

President Trump spent five minutes of his Cabinet meeting boasting of his thrift with a story about negotiating for $5 personalized Sharpies. The company that makes the permanent markers said the exchange never happened. wapo.st/4bLTOWd

Tiger Woods is lucky he's never killed someone with his reckless driving... golf has indulged his shameful behaviour for far too long - the sport should be helping its fallen hero instead, writes OLIVER HOLT trib.al/bWxVyVl
