@rmoyes_ @timricketts_ @medicalmodelbri Of course this is speculative without look at detailed course specs And after all of this, HEM and GEM graduate to F1 level. None of this “middle grade/SpR level” rubbish you see in PA courses. And interesting prev HCP years don’t allow you to skip doctor grades 4/

With measles on the uptick despite the availability of a highly effective vaccine, it's worth reflecting on Roald Dahl's account of the final day of his 7-year-old daughter's life.

At least eight people have gotten measles in an outbreak in the Philadelphia area. One child was sent to daycare despite quarantine instructions, and four others there subsequently got infected. nbcnews.com/health/health-…

Being a doctor is weird as you are held to infinitely high standards by everyone but also expected to play down that your job is high responsibility & intellectually tiring at times & have to act like any old rando could do your easy job so people don't think you're "superior"

I'm a 4th gen doctor. This meant I went to good schools, socialised with other doctor's kids- many of whom also wanted to become doctors and shared tips and resources about medical school entry- and already knew many lecturers when I got in. It's *not* a level playing field. 1/2

You’re 24x more likely to become a doctor if your parents were doctors, compared to those whose parents did any other type of work. Similarly, you’re 17x more likely to become a lawyer if your parents are lawyers. Here’s how it varies among the elite professions.

Starting to realise that the workload juniors face would be halved if we had: a) enough computers/printers that actually work b) IT systems that don't take 10 mins to load up or crash/freeze randomly

There is a curious phenomenon that results from the relatively brief window of time a single human lifetime provides: we perceive the current state of the natural world as “normal”. This is known as the Shifting Baseline Syndrome. 🧵
