@htmx_org A writer for Wired asked McDonald's if they wanted the dot com in 1994, they didn't, so he registered it (my recollection).

@ThePrimeagen I enjoyed watching an interview with Marc Andreesen last year where he tried to convince himself that his job as a VC can't be automated by AI 💸🤖

@DamionKnudsen @LiveAncestral Uric acid builds up for 10 - 15 years in crystals in the joints of our lower extremities. By the time they start inflammation, we had that many years of a bad diet.

Fructose is the only sugar that raises uric acid the moment it hits the liver. No other food does this. Not glucose, not fat, not protein. Fructose gets phosphorylated by an enzyme called fructokinase, and unlike glucose, that reaction has no brake on it. It burns through the cell’s energy so fast that ATP drops, and that drop is what triggers the breakdown of purines into uric acid. This is not a side effect. It is the direct, immediate metabolic signature of fructose and nothing else. For most of human history fruit was seasonal, available for a few weeks a year at most. Now it is available fresh, dried, juiced, and concentrated, every single day, all year round. The body still runs the same fructokinase pathway every time, uric acid rising with it, regardless of season. Nobody mentions this when handing out the advice to eat more fruit.

@spirodonfl Also, software pre-2000's were rock solid. Anyone who says otherwise can just run 90's software in a VM and see for themselves.

These people seem like they *want* to misunderstand the argument against it because it suits them. Maybe not but it sure seems that way "Things were bad before too" Ok. We're they worse? Better? The same? Right now, we are telling everyone to take what was bad before and automate it in a way not possible in the past. Remove the friction for bad things happening and bad things will happen more. The logic is really simple and few seem to get it. These "rebuttals" are just self owns. x.com/i/status/20779…

@Miles_C_E @htmx_org In a weird way, this actually makes sense that we were building Javascript things since 1996 but those things were invertebrates for about 15 years 🤷🪱🩻🦏
