Significant progress has been achieved in the HIV response through the structured engagement #PLHIV in ending #AIDS as a public health threat. Our commitment to adherence to treatment has been central to the progress achieved towards achieving the 95-95-95 targets driving down HIV incidence and ending AIDS. In 2024, approximately 1.3 million people worldwide became newly infected with HIV, marking a 61% decrease from the epidemic's peak in 1996. To sustain this progress even amidst funding cuts, over 40 million PLHIV through the first World AIDS Day Report by @gnpplus are asking for these seven bare minimum of services. It is disheartening to see how young people continue to be marginalized by visa denials, preventing them from participating in important sessions at #AIDS2024 These are the many inequalities that make connecting difficult in addressing the issues young people face.

Despite the visa refusal, @rnjplusburundi participated virtually in #AIDS2024. Represented by young leader @ravel_gat , RNJ+ contributed actively to the youth pre-conference, underscoring the need to break down barriers for equitable participation. #PutPeopleFirst

At the AIDS 2024 conference in Munich, @rnjplusburundi met with its partner @TackleAfrica to share successes, challenges and plan future initiatives. @AudreyInarukun3 , Executive Director of RNJ+, highlighted the importance of strong partnerships to achieve a world without AIDS.
