@switzerland2054 @katnahat7 @grok You keep resorting pro-DST being a lobbyist-only movement driven solely by profit. If you'd have simply acknowledged that there are some real tangible benefits to DST, I would shut up. I can agree to disagree which is better. We're literally only arguing about 1 hour.

@92michael Northern state person here. I'll take late sunrises for 3 months of the year instead of light being wasted as early as 4:15 AM during the summer.

You are being duped! By stupid people! Instead of eliminating Day Light Savings Time they are making it permanent. Trust me you will not like it!!! If you live in a northern state? Winters are going to suck even harder. You will get an extra hour of darkness in the mornings. What they should do is make Standard Time permanent and trash Day Light Savings time once and for all. “Trump Indicates He'll Sign Bill Making Daylight Saving Time Permanent” zerohedge.com/political/trum…

@ajwodecki @realDonaldTrump @elonmusk DST is keeping 2/3rd of the time (summertime) the same. Not transitioning it to Standard Time in winter, yes, effectively means waking earlier relative to sunrise. The benefit is light in the afternoon when people are doing stuff.

I love this answer for the brazen elitism of it. "The people don't know what they want, and I'm smarter than them." Are you? "Yeah, because this didn't work in 1974." In 1974, Daylight Savings time was imposed because of an energy crisis. People were angry at the government for the crisis, and they resented a stupid solution to it being imposed upon them. In that time, more than 50 years ago, most families had one wager earner and mothers were stay-at-home moms. Today we generally have two wage earners in the family, and the little or no daylight at the end of the day prevents families from being able to do things together in Standard Time. It is obviously more healthy for families to be able to be outside throwing a ball, riding a bike, mowing or raking the yard, taking walks, etc. and it's more mentally healthy for people to have a change to be exposed to sunlight after the workday in order to reduce or stave off conditions like seasonal affective disorder. The arrogance you display here is appalling.

@Austen I have a vivid memory of someone shouting "auslander" in German on the street and I thought the person was screaming at me. I quickly realized he was yelling at the black dude across the street.

@ajwodecki @realDonaldTrump @elonmusk It's a proven fact teens struggle with waking early. If you care so damn much about circadian rhythms, then you should be stomping your feet at 2nd and 3rd shifts. Also, there's nothing rhythmic about sunlight hours in northern latitudes.

@switzerland2054 @katnahat7 @grok The push is ultimately that people don't want to lose the extra hour during the summer and have more daylight in the afternoon during the winter. Stop with the conspiracy. Either way, keeping the time consistent is what is going to provide the most benefit to to health.

@ro8ertsterling @katnahat7 @grok good grief.. It was exactly my point! To show people "where" the push for DST was coming from. Money not health. I vote Standard.

@ColinNienaber Clearly Kentucky didn't, so what makes you think the country does? And spare us the Israel BS. No one cares about your conspiracy theory.

@Euphornicate For almost everyone with a regular job, wakeup times are inflexible. You will either wake to light or darkness. And for your overall health, light in the morning is far more important than evening light.

This is a step in the wrong direction, actually. According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, "current evidence best supports the adoption of year-round standard time, which aligns best with human circadian biology." Morning light > for health than evening light.

Out of all the great things President @realDonaldTrump has done, this should go toward the top of the list! Who could be opposed to more daylight?? Let’s get this bipartisan bill to the President’s desk!

@ro8ertsterling @realDonaldTrump @elonmusk Right now with the DST we have, you have almost 3 extra months waking in the dark. With permanent DST it adds over 74 days where kids are in school when it is STILL DARK OUTSIDE! That’s idiotic and selfish.

@Michelle41cx @WallStreetApes You're missing the point. As a Trump supporter, I don't blame anyone for their disapproval of Trump. He has massive flaws in policy and character. That said, wishing his death in any form, is not okay. That is a sinister and dangerous flaw in your character.

@CRYPT0N1TE @ajwodecki @realDonaldTrump @elonmusk "Most people would rather have it be dark at 5am than at 5pm, so DST is better." Incorrect. Modern medicine and science understand that early morning light is far better for the human sleep cycle than light later in the day. So standard time is better. Objectively.

@ro8ertsterling @WallStreetApes It’s not the best sentence I’ve ever written but it true. Men have always bragged about how they would handle other men who hurt children, but now the world sees that you were all full shit.

@LindaMeadWrites @SaveStandard The summer clock is DST, so if you get up at 8 AM, you get up at 8 AM. Standard Time would set the clocks back an hour, so 8 AM becomes 7 AM. This, sunrise at 5:15 AM in the summer becomes 4:15 AM.

@ro8ertsterling @SaveStandard If you currently wake at 8 in the summer you'd have to get up at 7 for sun to be at the same point in the sky. My comment is correct. DST advocates want everyone to get up an hour earlier year round.
