@valhumphreys51 I am currently waiting 5 weeks for a face to face appointment for a breast lump despite having filled in an e-consult form. I’ve also phoned and asked for an earlier appointment and been told it’s not possible. Wish my GP thought it was urgent.

At present: if I had severe chest pains, I’d go to A&E if I had a sore throat for a few weeks, I’d make an appmt online with my GP (not urgent) if I found a breast lump, I’d phone my GP and ask for an appmt within 24-48 hrs (urgent) So, what have I missed? What has changed?

@GardensHour It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas ... as someone who does gardening for a living, I'm looking forward to having a rest in a couple of weeks. #GardensHour

@mancunianmedic We had one that had acromegaly and was diabetic as a result. Do not miss those days of nicking ears to check blood sugar and injecting ever increasing doses of insulin. £8000 to have his pituitary gland removed, he developed meningitis and was sadly put to sleep. RIP Tig.

@BrMenopauseSoc Yes it’s bloody amazing and I thank my lucky stars everyday that an ANP gave me a prescription for it no questions asked. It gave me my concentration back, the ability to feel anger (missing for 2 years), stopped me wanting to be dead. Every woman should get it if they want it.

Should women be prescribed testosterone? The only current evidence-based indication for the addition of testosterone, is for persistent low libido in postmenopausal women, after all other contributory factors have been addressed. bit.ly/4gE4xUe

@MjsPlay @BrMenopauseSoc Concentration came back. Hadn't read a book in 2 years. So much general life admin didn't happen until I started taking testosterone. Could finally think long enough to start a task and finish it. Only because I work for myself that I still had a job! My level was 0.3.

@ro_munn @BrMenopauseSoc After my 10th hot flash of the day I searched perimenopause and found your post. Can you detail more of how it helped? My Obgyn says my levels are fine but they always go off the “ranges” which I’ve heard isn’t good to do for these issues.

Testosterone is not an “essential” hormone for women. Misinformation in the media risks medicalising a normal life stage. Testosterone is only indicated for low libido in postmenopausal women & doesn’t support claims that it helps other menopause symptoms, bone loss or dementia.>

@redrubyrose_ One day I’m going to treat myself to one of these, but my biggest problem is going to be choosing the design, they are all so lovely.

Seashells, moss, puffin and stitchwort. I’ve just just finished up this batch of tiny kisslock purses. They are fiddly ones to make but I like seeing them all together.

Hello and welcome to this week’s #GardensHour Is it just me or has May whizzed by in the blink of an eye?! Let’s pause and reflect on the past month in the garden. What have you enjoyed? Do you have a favourite photo of the month? Did things go to plan?

@lizzie60t @KateBurkeNHS Yes, I’ve been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Bloody awful pain, I’m almost impossible to get near now for any kind of gynae exam as too traumatised by it all.

@KateBurkeNHS Yep. I had silver nitrate applied to an endometriosis lesion on my cervix. It was the most painful experience of my life. When asked if I’d taken painkillers before the procedure I said no as I’d not been advised to do so. They said take some when you get home 😡🙄😬

@Harrii_W @Abi_Rimmer In my defence I’m tired and it’s 5.30pm and I’ve only just eaten my lunch, but I read your answer as ‘I’m afraid I have to prioritise the most unwell patients, so I won’t have time to do this shit’. Oops!

@Abi_Rimmer I’d like to read the answer! My recommendation would be ‘I’m afraid I have to prioritise the most unwell patients, so I won’t have time to do that on this shift’.

My office today had a really lovely view. I was knee-deep in moss as I scarified the lawn and applied weed & feed, but the hum of bees on these beauties was euphonious. #GardeningX

@DrZedZha "You're not pregnant, you're just constipated" said my GP. Had no antenatal care for the first 14 weeks. Son is 26 years old now. It broke my trust in doctors.

"I believe you." -- something I say A LOT. Sometimes, this Is enough to make people cry, because medicine has a bad habit of assuming people "fake" their symptoms. Have you been accused of (directly/indirectly) "faking it" by your medical team? Please comment. #AskThePatient ❤️‍🩹
